DXVK_ASYNC=1 gamescope -w 2560 -h 1440 -W 2560 -H 1440 -b -f -- gamemoderun mangohud %command%
Plays fine out of the box with proton-7.0-4. Note that the Steam overlay doesn't work with gamescope + NVIDIA + flatpak (or maybe just NVIDIA?) but it does keep alt+tab capability stable!
gamescope -w 2560 -h 1440 -W 2560 -H 1440 -b -f -- gamemoderun mangohud %command%
It plays buttery smooth with G-SYNC using MangoHud to limit frames. My personal preference for most games is to sacrifice the Steam overlay for ALT+TAB capability via gamescope. NVIDIA + Flatpak + gamescope isn't fully working yet.
The game also runs fine with proton-7.0-4 and vanilla launch options. Note that DXVK_ASYNC=1 is ignored by VKD3D. For it to be beneficial, the game must be launched with -dx11
to use DXVK. This game however doesn't support DX11 and loads a white screen for me but I wouldn't use this anyway because VKD3D is working great.
Recent kernel & NVIDIA drivers are BORKED
Game launches with proton experimental, shaders compile, menus and setting function as expected but no combination of launch options nor in-game configuration permit a new game to launch. The result on my system is a NVIDIA driver crash: NVRM: Xid 109 CTX SWITCH TIMEOUT. Xid 109 is a reserved value indicating an internal driver error. Apparently, an ancient combination of kernel + driver allow the game to launch but with severely degraded performance.
