Since this did not work for me:
protontricks 359320 -q dotnet472 win7
I did the following:
- Download wine-mono msi from
https://github.com/redmcg/wine-mono/releases
- Start
protontricks -c 'wine64 uninstaller' 359320
and remove all entries with the remove button. - Click the install button and select the downloaded msi - The change did not immediately show up for me. After restarting the wizard it showed up in the list.
- After this the launcher should start up. If the launcher crashes when clicking the button, start it again. The crashing seems non-deterministic.
I could not connect my steam account via the launcher.
Workaround:
- Create an account on
https://www.frontierstore.net
- Go to
https://www.frontierstore.net/frontier_partnerkeys/
and link your steam account. - Restart the game launcher. It should now be automatically logged in. If you see the "System Report Collection" dialog or something that's a good sign.
- If you have to log in manually for whatever reason, do not hover over the link in the login menu. It will crash the launcher.
Works with stock Proton, but you have to manually install Media Foundation DLLs into the prefix.
Recent update introduced video splash screens to be played on launch. This causes a non-skipable black screen.
Workaround: Works with stock Proton 6.3-4 when installing Media Foundation DLLs from here: https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install
How to install:
PROTON="<ABS_PATH_TO_STEAMAPPS>/common/Proton 6.3/" WINEPREFIX="<ABS_PATH_TO_STEAMAPPS>/compatdata/843380/pfx/" ./mf-install.sh -proton
Where <ABS_PATH_TO_STEAMAPPS>
is the full/absolute path to Steams steamapps
folder.
You can also use Proton-GE as it includes the necessary Media Foundation DLLs
Can't exit the game via the menu. Has to be killed by clicking 'Stop' in Steam or some kind of task manager etc.
Works pretty much as you would expect. No anti-cheat. Minor problems when the game loses focus.
alt-tabbing out of the game might randomly result in a black screen. As far as I can tell, only restarting the game fixes this.
