With Proton 9.0-2 the game froze after playing about 10 seconds, with Proton Experimental I got 50% higher fps than under Windows 11!

Game does not work any more. I get a dialog box saying "Failed to find a supported hardware rendering device. Ensure that your system meets the minimum requirements for Age of Empires IV. Verify that DirectX is properly installed and that you have the latest drivers for your system.
It used to work before but now I had to set the Proton version otherwise it would open a dialog saying "Failed to find a supported hardware rendering device. I have played the campaign for three hours so far and didn't notice any issues.
Was playing with the Steam recommended version of Proton until recently but now need to force 9.0.4.
Game froze after enabling AI traffic and then never launched again after rebooting
My AMD GPU has much better performance on Proton than on Windows 11. Only initially it processes Vulkan shaders for several minutes.

Need to use fullscreen instead of borderless window to hide KDE task bar
Save game didn't sync the first time and I cancelled the failure dialog. Next time it worked.
I also recommend to force a higher resolution using "-f -CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1080x32" as launch options.
Had to disable the Steam Overlay. Also I had to install another game which brought Steamworks Common Redistributables.
