Downloaded from the Discovery store, then added to Steam as a non-Steam game. I think removed all controller bindings. Works great!

Battery Performance:
To use Steam Deck as a controller only, go into Steam Link (on Deck) settings and disable everything except for Input.
Input:Bounding
Had to use the It's Nothing! by SHy community layout which essentially removes all controller bindings to let the Steam Link do its thing right.
If using for controller only, you can limit refresh rate and turn brightness down all the way, you'll get great battery life. Latency is on par with DualSense controller.
