Setting to windowed breaks the game, you can't interact with anything after it launches, the only way to revert this is by deleting your configuration files.
Great experience out of the box, just don't try windowed.
Excellent compatibility, a plug and play kind of experience
Compared to Windows, I cannot play on Ultra graphic settings with an FPS as high but it is definitely playable, sitting around 80 FPS.
Runs almost as good as Windows aside from occasional micro stuttering.
Keep in mind that this is working very well, but I am using Proton 5.13; if a later version fixes the issues with Strive, the game will for sure perform better than it currently is.
Great game, bad native port but runs great with Proton
Please read this before deciding which port to use
Hero Siege manually looks for a SSL certification with the name ca-certificates
in /etc/ssl/certs
so make sure that you have one. It likely contains a ca-bundle.crt
and `ca-bundle.trust.crt, but depending on your distro and version it may already exist and just work.
Now for the bigger problems
- The ping is substantially higher in the Linux port, according to the screen indicator, which I am inclined to doubt. No you cannot disable this indicator.
- Most UI elements do not work. The loot filters are broken, relics do not show up most of the time, among other things.
- Sometimes you end up de-syncing with the server and rent unable to attack or execute any actions whatsoever.
It's rough that this game has the native green banner on it when it has all these glaring issues with the Linux port. If you want a smooth experience, use the Windows port through Proton because it will be miles more bearable.
It works almost perfectly out of the box, only single a minor problem
The only problem, which is minor, is not being able to open your photo gallery from the game's menu.
Runs smoothly but crashes consistently around 5 minutes of playing
Around 5 minutes of playthrough the game crashes, consistently.
Runs amazingly out of the box, only a small window issue in unconventional resolutions
If you have an unconventional resolution (tiling the window) it will get black bars to try to stay 16:9.
