DX12 mode used to have bad stuttering, making it better to use DX11. But with GE-proton7-47 this issue is gone and i get more fps with DX12.
Sometimes i get lag in menu when moving mouse. In game no problems.
I got black screen after intro videos, and i tried proton versions 3.16-9(default), 4.11-10 and 4.20-GE, same problem with them all. Switching to 3.7-8 fixed it.
PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command%
Im using pure alsa for audio, only versions that worked are 3.7-8 and 7.0-1. Versions 3.16 to 6.3 require pulseaudio to not get stuck in black screen. I noticed that 7.0-1 was giving slightly lower fps than 3.7-8 in some situations, adding PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 to launch options fixed that.
Runs fine if you want to play just single player, but you may need lower settings than windows.
Sometimes textures flicker or disappear, i believe that is due to running out of VRAM.
Runs pretty bad with 1080p lowest settings because DXVK requires more VRAM than native so 4GB is not enough for that, after dropping to 0.8 render resolution it starts to run fine.
At first it had so much missing in graphics that i could not see anything in game. I compiled mesa with this patch https://copr-dist-git.fedorainfracloud.org/cgit/gloriouseggroll/mesa-aco/mesa.git/tree/dgc_testing.patch?h=f36&id=f51580996713f185ea8edfba9a294ce643fce5c2 and LTO enabled as someone told me, and now all graphical issues are gone.
Recent GE-Proton required for game to run, and patched mesa required for correct graphics rendering. Use fps limit with number your pc can keep all time, otherwise it stutters (happens on windows too but it can also be fixed with radeon anti-lag)
First try after few months of not playing game didn't start, i restarted steam and it started with black screen, i heard sound, clicked mouse and server selection menu appeared. Runs great, about 40fps in lobby with 50 players and and 60+ in game when i tested max graphics, but i use bit lower normally and get 80+. Mesa version is ACO GIT, but few months ago with older version of game and normal mesa it ran great as well.
Runs very good, except black screen at start that can be skipped. 120fps possible by lowering graphic settings.
First try it did not start in proton 6.3. I tried 4.20-GE i had used before for this game and it worked. After that trying proton 6.3 it worked no problem.
Installed Proton BattlEye Runtime
First game just closed after few mins, but after installing proton battleye runtime it works.
With Proton 7.0-1 and new GE builds I got very bad stuttering, but works well in 6.x.
Proton 6.21-GE is best for this game as it does not have launcher issue that happens with most other versions and it doesn't have stutter issue i have in new versions.
RADV_PERFTEST=gpl mangohud %command%
Proton 7.x stutters in big battles, both valve or GE versions. I compiled TKG-proton-8.0, with it the stutter issue is gone, so i was finally able to upgrade from 6.21-GE and gain some performance.
mangohud %command%
Set wanted fps limit in useroptions.ini, because something has changed and using mangohud or dxvk fps limiter no longer runs smoothly.
Stutter issue that i said was fixed in tkg-proton 8.0 had reappeared after updating kernel, and i found that custom cpu scheduler can fix it, at least BMQ scheduler runs smoothly. I think it should run well with all proton 8.x versions when using custom cpu scheduler.
First i couldn't get it to run at all, found it was because i had it installed on exfat partition. After moving to ext4 partition it works. At start runs with really bad stuttering, and every time playing on map that hasn't been played before it stutters at start. After that, it becomes pretty smooth, and my fps is most of time 110-120. If i set textures to high, fps gets really low, was about 20 in menu, on medium or low textures runs fine. On windows i get 160+ fps if running without limit. I tried Esync on and off, doesn't seem to change anything.
With fsync patched kernel and mesa aco git runs really good, except little stutter at start, but much less than without aco. It keeps fps at my limit 150 after stuttering ends with low+medium textures. All medium runs 140+ fps. Feels better than same fps on windows.
6.13-ge-1 GloriousEggroll
Use DXVK_ASYNC=1 to get rid of shader compilation stutter, but even without that its not bad using ACO shader compiler.
d3dcompiler_47 win7
Missing textures before adding d3dcompiler_47 from protontricks.
Set win7 from protontricks to fix not being able to connect.
Previously anticheat was giving error when starting game, after devs enabled proton EAC support it works.
60-80fps out of box with little stutter, and that is much worse than on windows
I read about tweaking affinity from other reports, and i did some testing and it seems to run best with 1 thread per core, for launch options i used taskset -c 1,3,5,7,9,11 %command%. After that i got it running good, getting about 100fps with more stable frametimes, some of settings turned to low.
Works better than on windows 10, as it does not start at all on windows 10.
No car sounds, music plays normally
Doesn't run bad, but i was expecting more, i see drops to 80 fps in multiplayer. For performance increase i changed advanced > compatibility > cpu/gpu synchro to 1 frame.
I think it will run fine if you have GPU with more than 4GB of VRAM, 4GB is enough only for 720p low.
VRAM requirements seem to be huge for this game, i needed to drop to lowest graphics and 720p to not run out of VRAM. I tested windows for comparison, and performance at 1080p is about same i get at 720p on linux. FPS was about 70-80 when fighting multiple enemies.
