Game freezes at match start, then a black screen and the frozen frame while audio keeps working
Tested with both Fullscreen and Windowed mode
Results in having to force quit the game
running very well like in windows operating system. I'm really impressed that I was able to install the smoke patch too! thank you valve
Literally out of box experience.
Run out of the box with Official Proton or Proton GE
Funciona exactamente igual que windows, solo tuve problemas con la pantalla completa pero como ya dije, lo arregle con protontricks.
No habia podido poner la pantalla completa, pero lo solucione con protontricks instalando fake fonts.

error starting
when starting the following error appears :
Attention: This game does not meet the minimum system requirements to run this software. Therefore, errors may occur during its operation. Your video card does not meet the required specifications.
But i played this game in Windows!!

Needed to install NET Framework for my own to run settings and change to fullscreen.

Followed these steps to open "settings.exe" and save to "settings.dat" http://wiki.sgripon.net/doku.php/run_pro_evolution_soccer_2019_in_fullscreen_mode_on_steam_on_ubuntu_linux
To play fullscreen and/or change some video settings (screen resolution, vsync...) you have to open settings.exe. Follow the intructions in the link above.
Game didn't start with Proton 5.13-4

To fix Online PvP, we use custom version of vcrun2019 verb by GloriousEggroll. Keep in mind that due to read-only wine libraries on Proton 5.13-x your winetricks/protontricks installation might failed, so you have to change the dlls permission to read and write before tinkering with winetricks/protontricks. https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/3227#issuecomment-726809067
There is no in-game options to switch to fullscreen, you have to use Settings.exe which require dotnet462
installed through winetricks/protontricks
You may or may not experience failure on downloading asset data.
There is the desync fix for online PvP matches: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/3227#issuecomment-726809067
follow this to have fullscreen : http://wiki.sgripon.net/doku.php/run_pro_evolution_soccer_2019_in_fullscreen_mode_on_steam_on_ubuntu_linux
Played demo version. Worked out of the box but resolution was not my native nor fullscreen. Needed "protontricks 996470 dotnet420 allfonts", then next time PES loads the settings will load first.
defaulted to windowed as above, needs protontricks to solve
Doing this little tweaks to setting up fullscreen mode and resolution

Works fine, but just for vs. COM, no PvP possible.
just vs. COM, no PvP.

installation on this order of : dotnet40, dotnet472 (it will install all the in between versions), but you must install dotnet40 manually first installation of allfonts
when trying to use network ingame the game crash

gameplay is the same as in windows, only multiplayer online is not available
the game can't connect to konami servers, in game updates fail and so myclub can't be launched

Online is no-go.
It can't go to myClub. Something wrong with connection.
Just some minor issues but after those few tweaks I can say I'm as happy with the game as any Windows user would be
To use a PS4 controller you need to connect it through ds4drv
Opening the menu below the main menu will crash the game
Stutters in games and cinematics
To get the game fullscreen follow this: https://bit.ly/2QUweOB I had to follow it step by step as my default wine profile won't install dotnet452
Stuttering got worse when I changed resolution to my native one (still windowed) but disappeared by changing to fullscreen and VSync 2

Run settings to get full screen: http://wiki.sgripon.net/doku.php/run_pro_evolution_soccer_2019_in_fullscreen_mode_on_steam_on_ubuntu_linux
Audio through HDMI is borked, internal speakers and headphones out is fine.
Fullscreen doesn't work by default, you need to run Settings.exe and copy the config to the game steam dir (See link above).
Every time I start the game I have select the region and accept the three license agreements. Probably connected to the fact that the creation of the user profile in the following step fails, it always says there's already an user with the chosen name. I have to select "discard".
When launched in full screen, the game will use the current resolution used by the os. Try lowering that before launching the game if graphics are lagging.
The main problem is the multiplayer online mode. You may perfectly play to the offline mode, even inside of myClub (Freeplay online mode).
You are NOT able to play PvP online, just vs COM. Menus, sounds and vs COM mode work perfectly.
I would like to have a football sim working on GNU/Linux systems, I think this is a good chance to get our first one.

Es necesario ejecutar manualmente settings.exe
Los partidos en red no funcionan. Intentar bajar a las opciones de debajo de la pantalla principal provoca que el juego se cierre.

Randomly gets slower sometimes
When scrolling down on top menu (iconic moments), it always crashes
Asset downloading always fail
Following the instructions here https://bit.ly/2QUweOB made me able to run settings.exe and set resolution and window/fullscreen parameters.

The game works, not 100% as works in windows OS, but if you want to play some matches with friends I think it's fine.
The game goes little slower than expected, but seems to work better at maximum render detail (in game options)
If you navigates to bottom of the main menu, game will crash.
Game do not connect to internet, and because of this cant update player statuses.
You will need to execute settings.exe to adjust resolution/fullscreen using same prefix and put the settings file in proper location.

Does not pass the KONAMI screen.
Tried with PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% because why not, several games end up working with that and no luck.
System freezes during loss of window focus
Unable to download additional assets

Can't connect to Konami servers, otherwise works perfectly on Proton 5.0-3
Settings.exe wouldn't run because of some missing font, I had to copy the settings.dat file from Windows to make it start fullscreen.
The game doesn't connect to Konami servers, so I don't get live updates and can't play online parts of the game (MyClub). Offline parts such as MasterLeague work just fine.
Descending the options in the menu start the game closes alone

Won't run
I tried to run but it doesn't even show the main menu.

crash in main menu when scrolling down, no crash in gameplay sofar
works fine using Proton 5.0-3

I found a work-around to the new Starting issue.
You can start without issue by following 3 steps
- Stay connected to the internet until until the konami screen (red screen) appear
- Then deactivate your network connection. In fact, new asset downloads will fail and give your access to main menu.
- OPTIONAL: You can re-enable your network connection
Now you should be able to play again ;)
Freezes on the boot screen even after the latest update of the game.
1: Delete $HOME/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/996470 2:WINEPREFIX=$HOME/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/996470/pfx winetricks -q vcrun2015 3: Run Game from Steam
working good in linux mint and ubuntu no go in arch linuh
Does not go past "The pitch is yours"

not working anymore?
I installed vcrun2015 like described, but no luck. Game crashs after splash screen. May does not work anymore with current proton 4.11-11?
Even after the Winetricks trick, it doesn't get past the red Konami screen and crashes.
Even after the Winetricks trick, it doesn't get past the red Konami screen and crashes.

I had the same problem as all of us (last update => stuck on splash screen). Thanks to one of the posts, i can finally play again.
==> I followed the steps: (1) install winetricks (2) backup my game settings folder <996470/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/MyDocuments/KONAMI> (3) Delete hole 996470 folder (4) Open terminal and type WINEPREFIX=yourPathToCompatFolder/996470/pfx winetricks -q vcrun2015 (5) Run game (6) Exit game once default profile created (7) Past/Override settings folder (8) Enjoy | ==> # Big thank you to the guy that found the solution
