While marked as "unsupported" at the time of this report. The game could at least be marked "playable" because I do not recommend running the game from SD card as this in some cases might cause some loading lags. While I did not play online multi player everything I tested ran out-of-the-box and without issues. Here is a video I captured to provide a better picture: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKxigns_QIQ
As of 31. December 2024 online 1v1 works flawless with Proton Experimental and solves disconnecting issue.

Flickering at startup
No Proton version other than the GE-Proton9-5
worked for me.

Tested with: Proton Experimental, 9.0-2 and GE
While in game mode, the game appeared to be out of focus or was not recognizing the controller, as the Steam Deck was making SteamOS menu noises while the game was on screen.
By switching to desktop mode, I was able to interact with the game but had no audio.

online seems to work well, lag free
works as expected
GE-Proton9-5 seems to work really well

Play Mortal Kombat 11
To fix the issue where you are constantly disconnected from the online session, download ucrtbase.dll from dll-files.com and place it under /home/deck/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/976310/pfx/drive_c/windows/system32
Excellent with the fix for the online, awful without it
Apply online play fix and enjoy the whole game!

Replaced ucrtbase.dll file
Low settings at 1080p, the game runs at 60 fps. Works with default Proton (no Proton set in Compatibility option)

Replaced the ucrtbase.dll file
Enabled dynamic resolution
Frequent dsync but solved after ucrtbase.dll replacement

Added ucrtbase.dll like described by other report
After replaced ucrtbase.dll stopped on having dsync issues and had a perfectly online experience
This game just needs a ucrtbase.dll replacement for the online play. All the rest is perfectly as it is. You can do some performance tweaks to preserve the battery and it's all.

As of June 13th, 2023, this game absolutely does not work on Steam Deck, on any version of proton that is available.
Nothing comes up at all, just black screen and quits out.
Fast graphics (initially asks for auto-testing to find optimal graphic settings), smooth image, not lags or freezes so far.
I recommend running graphic test so the game sets its configuration automatically.

None
This game works flawlessly with any version of proton 7 and up. To make online mode work you need to use Proton GE 7-35 or newer and most IMPORTANTLY! Download ucrtbase.dll from Google. There are many popular sites that host Dll files.
Once you download and extract it, you need to paste it in /.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/976310/pfx/drive_c/windows/system32 and replace the current dll.
THIS WILL GET ONLINE MODE WORKING WITH NO DSYNC ISSUES!
Lower refresh rate to 45 and medium graphics settings
Audio works well but it's low have to turn up the Deck near max settings
As mentioned before, you need to add the dll file
Based on the notes I saw here, I first tried with GE-Proton7-31, and fights themselves worked fine, but when playing a Klassic Tower I noticed that when reaching the final boss, a cinematic fails to load and the game locks up, requiring a force quit from the Steam menu. I tried this multuple times and reproduced it each time.
Switching to Proton Experimental solved this problem. I did notice an unexpected interruption to network connectivity that I hadn't seen before (it kicked me out of the tower at the final boss), but that only happened once, so I don't have reason to believe it's a compatibility issue. I was able to successfully complete the tower using Experimental, and there was a bit of weirdness (black display) after completing it, but it didn't prevent me from proceeding, and again I don't even know that it's a compatibility issue.
Other single player modes I've tried work fine, but I have not tried anything online (though others say GE is needed for that) and have not tried all the modes.
In general, based on my experience so far, I can recommend this as playable in single player using the version Proton Experimental available as of this writing.
desyncing when playing online
desyncing when playing online
Game works great on Steam Deck. Full 60 FPS maxed out graphics and almost zero lag spikes.
When starting the game, it will run an autoconfig. You can also do this manually in the options and even with the autoconfig, it will run a stable 60 fps.
If you don't have Proton GE, boot into Desktop mode, quit Steam manually, and open up Discover. After that, search for ProtonUp-Qt and install the Flatpak. Once installed, run and go into the Proton-GE dropdown and install the latest version.
When you go into Steam (in the desktop or main interface), go into the Properties for the game and manually set the Proton version to the Proton GE you installed.
Proton GE
Game runs perfectly fine once you install and run the game through Proton GE, INCLUDING ONLINE MULTIPLAYER WITHOUT DESYNCING on Steam Deck. Playing online with anything else other than GE will cause the multiplayer to desync within the first few seconds.

Boots up runs its usual auto config and benchmarks got a solid 60fps on max settings gameplay is smooth as butter
Played multiplayer went througj the tutorials no issues played a match online all works fine exactly how you'd expect
