Game does not like becoming unfocused when it is full screen.
Game crashes really early on, with a window that appears to complain about a missing file.

Any game saves you saved by launching from Steam were not accessible to me when launching from Lutris.
I would have bought this elsewhere had I known it worked poorly without tinkering.
Crashes frequently on Proton 9 OOTB
Game does not like becoming unfocused when it is full screen.
Game frequently shows a mojibake error message and crashes.
Happens more frequently when you try to skip text.
It doesn't properly play on 8.0.4
It boots up, starts, you can get into the menu, but once you start playing it you run the risk of getting an error code in Japanese and it crashing.
Install lavfilters
- When starting the game in Steam Deck Gaming Mode with window mode, animation has streaks. In Steam Deck Desktop Mode or fullscreen, animation is displayed normally.
- Chinese HD version has display problem, cannot play. Chinese original version is displayed normally.
Install lavfilters to play OP.

Gives an error after playing a couple of minutes the intro as described on the github issue (https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/6985)
You can install the patch dlc from denpasoft by just using protontricks and running the exe, dont forget to also install the desync fix. For running the exe create a lavfilters prefix like here https://www.visualnovelwiki.org/en/linux/wineprefix and point lutris to run the HoshiMemo_HD.exe and use Lutris 7.2 runner

On boot, the game launches with half of the screen displayed and the other half blank. Resolved using Alt-Enter
The game runs well, but there are a few issues that occur. The biggest glaring one is that in order to run the game, the locale needs to be changed to Japan, which is not an issue on the Windows Steam release. Additionally, although the option is there on Windows, on Proton there is no ability to change the font, which may prove to be an annoyance to players.
Proton didn't change the behavior from wine, it crashes at the same scene.
