changed to experimental

If you launch the game normally, you would get the message "EAC Unexpected Error (#1)". One way I managed to solve this is by installing glibc-eac, Here is a link to their github page: glibc-eac Instruction is as follows: Launch Konsole in desktop mode Copy the first line of command on the latest release page: wget https://github.com/Frogging-Family/glibc-eac/releases/download/release_1/glibc-2.39+r64+g70f560fc22-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst https://github.com/Frogging-Family/glibc-eac/releases/download/release_1/lib32-glibc-2.39+r64+g70f560fc22-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst https://github.com/Frogging-Family/glibc-eac/releases/download/release_1/glibc-locales-2.39+r64+g70f560fc22-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst hit enter, then the second line of command: sudo pacman -U glibc-2.39+r64+g70f560fc22-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst lib32-glibc-2.39+r64+g70f560fc22-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst glibc-locales-2.39+r64+g70f560fc22-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst Hit enter, then restart SD.
With the aforementioned tinkering, the game should launch fine, it plays pretty well on Steam Deck. If the tinkering did not work, please refer to Steam Guide: EAC "Unexpected error (#1)" Linux Fix

the game doesn't work anymore after updating to SteamOS 3.6.19 Stable
EasyAntiChat is not working correctly due to the game's developers that did not update it in the game yet. Since they have not done that for 2 years I don't expect it any time soon. Currently the game kicks you while you attempt to join a server. The way to deal with that is to remove InsurgencyEAC.exe file and EasyAntiCheat folder from the game files and then verify the files through steam. Usually does not help at the first try but on second or third it should start working as expected until you restart the game. Then you'l have to do it all again.

Proton Experimental
You may have to tone down the graphical settings in-game
A year ago, you wouldn't be able to connect to Windows based community servers or would have trouble joining a vanilla server, both issues seem to be gone now and you can now join any type of server

Almost a flawless Steam Deck experience, best enjoyed with mouse and keyboard, rare crashes. One of my most played games on the device.
The game launches a very annoying Epic Games Window, I just close it
Sometimes in night maps, in co-op only, my Steam Deck completely freezes and I have to restart but it's rare.
Using Proton experimental is a must-use because of Easy anti-cheat
Online is fantasic with a solid with a 60-70fps at 900p in my testing. My settings are to balance good visuals and great framerate. [DISPLAY] Display Mode/ Full Screen , Resolution/ 1600x900p , Resolution Scale/ 100% , FOV/ 95
[QUALITY] Anti-Aliasing/ FXAA , View Distance/ low , Textures/ high , Effects/ low , Foliage/ low , Shadows/ low , Post-Proccess/ medium
[EXTRA] Scope Detail/ normal , Dismemberment/ off , Ragdoll Count/ low , Foliage Interactions/ ON , Ambient Occlusion/ ON , Anisotropic Filtering/ 4x , Tesselation/ ON , Screen Space Reflections/ medium , Dynamic Shadows/ 1024x1024 , Cascaded Shadows/ 512x512 , Texture Streaming Pool/ high
Because the game is rendering AI teammates as well as the ememy, you should expect a hit to performance due to additional CPU load, otherwise it was running a playable 60-70FPS at 900p with dip into mid 50fps only due to again adittional load or because my shader cache wasn't fully developed.
[My Steam Deck Configuation]
VRAM set to 4gb from default 1gb (set in bios and reason for high textures) / Cryo-Utilities 2.0 (Recommended Settings) / FSR Enabled / APU Power: 15w. This current configuration is pushing the most out of my Steam Deck since i frequantly swap between portable and docked play. All setting mentioned can be tuned for better battery or strictly hand-held play, like dropping resolution to 720p and frame rate to 40fps.
I hope this post helps you all out!
Game forgets tutorial has already been completed upon fresh install
Playable only with proton experimental
online will only work if proton experimental is enabled. Runs perfectly otherwise OTB
Il suffit d'utiliset Proton Experimental pour que le jeu fonctionne correctement. Testé sur Steam Deck et PC sous Archlinux.
Sur le Steam Deck vous pouvez obtenir 50-60 fps en configuration graphique élevée!
Required me to link existing account to an epic account
Insurgency Sandstorm requires EAC to play online and is one of the extreme few that work on linux! I finally have a good multiplayer fps game on the deck I can just drop in and play
Menu is glitching
Used the recommended per-game profile perfmance settings which locked the FPS at 40 and refresh rate to 40
Default settings were used for the video options within the game. I didn't change anything from install. Using Proton 7.0-3 and the per-game profile the game was locked at 40fps and didn't budge. Did not try multiplayer but did single player games and it ran like a champ.
(None)
Launches perfectly, loads into multiplayer servers with ease. Considering Steam has it classed as unsupported it runs flawlessly!
-dx12
30 FPS Cap, Reducing Quality to Medium or Low
Almost no artifacting, some FX showed up black but that was it
The menu has a bug for new updates MOTD pops up, it will split between half M/K and Controller. You can accept by pressing Enter, then controller will work 100% as expected
NWI has stated that Online Multiplayer will not work, the game boots, plays coop, and can use the server browser to join NON-EAC servers. NWI is also a company that won't unban you in case they make a mistake, so users be wary until we get official support from NWI on Deck to play Matchmaking/EAC protected servers.
