Nowadays it works perfectly with stock Proton 8.0-2. Even cutscenes are fine. No tinkering needed.
The default gamepad controls are weird. A is jump, B is punch, Y is kick and X is special attack. The first thing I did was swap punch and special attack in settings. After that I breezed through the game without any issues.
Launch window doesn't respond to gamepad input. You can use the touch screen to get past it.
Floating text above enemies is illegible but it's just the enemy type/name so it doesn't really impact gameplay or story.
When you load the game you will see a unity config window with resolution, msaa, you select the option and start the game with the touch screen.
Not working on Steam Play experimental proton
works with normal wine but not in steam

With this custom proton I could see the cutscenes but the game, now, from time to time crashes.
Game is playable except for the cutscenes.

You have to force quit game. Or use the command xkill
The game itself runs fine, but the cut scenes are just black with subtitles. The opening movie runs fine, but not the ones that run after you start a game. I played past the first boss and into the second stage with no issues.
Story bits does not work (no picture or sound), only subtitles. Freezes/Crashes when trying to quit the game. Otherwise the game work.
