Overall (online):Didn't Work
The game works out of the box.
All issues have nothing to do with proton and should be identical on Windows.
- The multiplayer has no players even with cross-play, but I assume it would work if enough players would be online to play.
- Ubisoft never touched this game again after release ...
- In-game tutorial graphics are misleading for the index controllers.
- Annoying full screen messages that try to force you into a specific play style (head tilting) can not be turned off.

(< 1 hour with Proton)Gold
All issues revolve around Uplay. Proton 3.16 and 3.7 don't seem to launch Uplay, but that may be a false flag, and Proton 4.2 works fine for me. Upon exiting Eagle Flight, Uplay remains open as a system applet causing steam to think the game is still running. Manually closing Uplay works fine.
Outside of the minor Uplay bugs, the game runs like native Windows once you're in.
