With HL2 20 annversry, it will just load there, and do nothing. Even tried -nogamepad (i think thats what it is).

Works fine natively altough it ran a tad fast so precision platforming is tricky but that's to be expected with a way more powerful rig than the game was intended to play on
Made the left stick dictate movement speed based on travel. There is no anologue movement speed by default, only run/walk.
HL:S is buggy :P
Occassional view snapping
Still some good fun, but I recommend tweaking some controls. Use action layers to make the outer left stick ring switch from walk to run.
It is very very helpful to equip explosives with one back button, ur flashlight with another, the reload button with another, and quick save with the last one.
It is very helpful to enable the gamepad initially using the touchscreen
Half Life: Source version works well by enabling the gamepad in settings, then hotkeying vital functions onto the back buttons. Gyro aiming is a nice addition if you would like to try that but the sensitivity messed me up despite my tweaks. Otherwise, the steam deck is an amazing device to play this classic!
Works out of the box with Proton Experimental
Native linux port failed to launch. 6.3.7 and 4.2.9 also failed to launch, however using experimental worked perfectly out of the box.

Game works native on Linux. On Proton it works out of the box. I installed manually D9VK and it worked as well fine with this DX9 to Vulkan translation.
