Enemies clipping, backpacks falling through the world

Works out of the box on experimental. I wasn't getting high fps but I suspect based on windows reports thats just the state of the game Jul-25

When running with PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1, I had some weird issues with holding down keys to perform actions
Cross play does not work
I had some odd issues while trying out Proton Wayland (using the launch command PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 %command%
) I couldn't hold down keys to do things like revive my allies. I just went back to using xwayland by removing the paramater and things have been great since.

extreme sensitivity
no crossplay with xbox gamepass players that I could figure out

cursor not locked to screen

Works OOB
I don't have any friends with this game yet but appears cross-play / shared worlds are disabled for those without windows / xbox app. https://steamcommunity.com/app/2661300/discussions/0/600785448933073685/

Game runs very poorly across the board and seems to have some sort of memory leak but playable other than that.
ENABLE_VKBASALT=1 VK_INSTANCE_LAYERS=vkBasalt gamescope -f -- %command%
removed Lumen lighting, not nessesary but game runs very poorly
Game runs poorly across the board, need optimization patches

This game requires the Xbox app on Windows to do crossplay, making crossplay impossible on Linux.
If you want to play this game with cross platform folks whilst you're on Linux, don't bother. You won't be able to go through the authentication flow and will be stuck with singleplayer or Steam friends only.

mangohud game-performance %command%
I did not configure anything specifically to play this game, I just used the configuration that I was already running on the other games I have already installed. I don't get max fps but I still have to tinker with the in game options, I have been getting consistently 30+ with default High settings at 1440p - I might just have some dated hw for the game

Editing the SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata/2661300/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/Augusta/Saved/Config/WinGRTS/GameUserSettings.ini File and set bCossPlayEnabled on False
WIthout thinkering this game crashes always on startup. Every time Grounded 2 want to sign in in the xbox network for crossplay it crahes.

gamemoderun %command%
Worked out of the box. Have tested to play with friend that is running steam version of the game on windows and it works like a charm.
Added gamemoderun for performance (not required to run the game).

mangohud gamemoderun %command%
Could not enable crossplay due to lack of xbox services.
Game runs just like any other Unreal 5 game, crashes when attepting to login for crossplay unlike grounded 1. Playing with a friend that uses xbox game pass was not possible on limux sadly.

Works fine!

Works surprisingly pretty much out of the box
Had some crashes in the beginning but game starts now pretty consistantly; also I cant connect to Xbox Services for Crossplay
Didnt expect it to run that smoothly on my Fedora 42 KDE machine, , with tinkering probably even better, didnt test multiplayer yet; also, couldnt link to Microsoft for Crossplay

Crash si l'ont choisie d'utiliser le compte Xbox lors du lancement
hormis les problèmes lié a l'état d'Early Access, je n'ai pas rencontré de problème inédit au fait de lancer le jeux sur linux avec proton

Performance is arse, but that's not limited to Linux.
Don't trust the specs in my profile. Arch Linux, 5800X3D and 6950XT. Optimization is arse, getting 60-80 FPS with medium quality settings at 1440p. The game is very good, if your rig is chunky enough.
Working great right out of the box, running on High settings is very smooth, Epic graphics has some minor stuttering

Unable to login using Microsoft Account. Only Steam login works.
Game will not launch without activating proton experimental

gamemoderun %command%
Missing dialog in co-op but could be a game bug
Only 80+ FPS with low settings
Hosting a game resulted in stuttering for the connecting player
When choosing to link a Microsoft Account the game crashes, choosing non Crossplay (Steam only Mode) the game works fine. If choosen once the Proton Prefix in needs to be deleted to get rid of crashing on Startup

PROTON_LOG=1 %command%
5 fps with minimum required GPU listed, could be non proton related, just bad launch
The review is written on launch day, 29.07.2025, the optimization may be improved with patches, who knows Don't use crossplay, the game will crash and require reinstall to choose "No Crossplay" option to play properly

Runs as well as expected of newly released UnrealEngine game... But at least very playable and fun. No issues other than early access stuff
Seems to be poor optimization, not linux issue
I like

Got to account selection menu, but game crashed when I tried connecting to my Microsoft account.
gamemoderun %command%
First start I could see the two options - Microsoft account for crossplay or Steam only - and it crashed when I tried to connect my Microsoft account. Subsequent tries resulted in crash after the initial splash screen and can no longer see the selection menu.
mangohud gamemoderun PROTON_USE_NTSYNC=1 %command%
logging into MS account caused game to crash had to delete pfx/reinstall game then chose to use steam only

Early access, issues are to be expected. Quite laggy (under 60fps despite tinkering with settings). Looking forward to seeing things fixed.
Early access, it's to be expected.
Crashed before I got a chance to ensure it was saved.

The game is playable out of the box, multiplayer (over LAN) works however the other player (playing on Windows) reported a few issues. Expecting a lot of these things to be fixed in the coming days, and it seems Windows users are reporting similar issues.
So to summarize: doesn't seem to be a difference between my experience and the average Windows experience.

Once Crossplay is enabled, the game will crash and impossible to disable the crossplay.
As long as you don't enable crossplay, it work fine
As soon as anything related to cross play is touched the game persistently breaks. Once F1 in main menu is pressed there will be a crash and after that the game crashes upon startup. You then have to delete your userdata to reset it.

The game is very much playable, but if you're on lower end hardware you may have trouble with the more reactive parts of the game.
mangohud %command% -dx11
Before and after adding -dx11 to the launch options there was frequent stuttering. Afterwards, it was more consistent, but stuttering was still present. This is very likely an issue with my own hardware though. I would not expect to encounter this on a higher end PC. I'm not sure whether this is a CPU or GPU bottleneck or something else.
As with the first game (at least at launch), any proton version other than 6.21-GE-2 is unable to get past the microsoft sign in screen. In this case, I was completely unable to access the main menu (as it would crash). I tested proton hotfix, experimental, 9.0-4, 10.0-1, GE-Proton9-27, and GE-Proton10-8 and all of them had the same issue.
The 6.21-GE-2 version was the solution to the issues I had playing Grounded 1 as well. If you're being met with an Unreal Engine crash report window after the "press any button" screen, try changing to 6.21-GE-2.
Using Proton 9.0-4 and works like a charm. Have not testet with Microsoft Account Crossplay

If you try to connect to your Microsoft Account the Game will Crash. Crossplay and Shared World not possible. If this happens to you, reinstall the game and choose the other option.
With Proton 7.0-6 the game is not crashing anymore while activating Crossplay. But login to your Microsoft Account will not work.
