I needed to add launch options to get it to work, otherwise it would crash upon startup. Other than that, the game worked fine. No glitches or isses besides the ones that come with the game.

Custom launch option: WINEDLLOVERRIDES="d3d8=n,b;msvcp71=n;msvcr71=n" gamemoderun %command%
The game runs fine once you set the custom launch option, but no matter if you use the official or community layouts, the controls suck. There are also some problems in cutscenes where the black aspect ratio bars dont cover the whole screen, and you can see the game behind them.

As long as you use an older Proton version and limit the fps in the launcher, you'll be able to play mostly without issue.

Very rarely you'll see some textures flickering or missing.
When I set the maximum framerate in the launcher to my monitor's refresh rate (144hz), the tagging controls were very laggy and unresponsive. Lowering the max framerate back to the default 60hz seemed to fix this. Otherwise my XBOX ONE controller worked fine. Unfortunately even when using a controller all the ingame button prompts are for kb+m.
Unless you switch to an older version of Proton, the game always crashes on the opening cutscene (The one after selecting a new game, not the one that plays when the game opens). I tried using Proton Experimental like others have suggested, but the game would still crash in the same place. Even with an older version the game will still occasionally crash randomly.
On the subway ride level, when I had the maximum framerate set to 144hz, the camera would be constanly and rapidly moving back and forth, making it very hard to see what you're doing and making the level basically impossible to complete. This was fixed by changing the launcher setting back to 60hz, the default.
The launch options are required as the game won't start without them. Everything else aside, the game ran very smoothly.

There's a launcher window, but you can just press "A" (which is spacebar in this layout) to run the game
Some textures flicker
Main menu is blurry due to its low resolution. The gameplay looks and plays great.

I used the NOLAUNCHER mod. What I did was delete the CFG files, let it check the game files again. Unsure if it did anything as I did copy the CFG files from a fresh install on another PC. So maybe just delete the files and reinstall them, maybe that helped.
I ran the game again, everything worked. The climbing no longer blackscreened. The fights actually took damage and I was able to finish the fights, didn't see any graphical glitches at all. I played the first 2 levels without any problems. I was using a 55in TV and Xbox controller on the Steam Deck through a dock. had perfect sound, perfect picture, I think it was 30fps? I didn't really look but the menu says 60fps so maybe it was 60 in the game too? I only had it at 1280x800 even on the big TV but it was so smooth and playable, and the game doesn't like that resolution anyway so why even try to go higher. I can pump the Steam Deck to 4K and play games at that res, maybe I try that next and see what happens.
But yea, if its corrupt, delete the files, reinstall. Worked for me. This is the Steam version. I did try another version, 100% no luck to even get it launching.

edited a few cfg files, turned options =true or =false but nothing fixed my problem
When you climbed it went blackscreen and enemies sometimes dissappeared
never get far enough to save.
There is a part abut 2 mins in when you need to block the attacker. that never happens, you cant attack him or block his attacks, he never hurts you.
in that same fight scene, if you try to climmb a edge the game will crash with an error
is there a way or something im missing to either get hit by enemies to pass that fight or stop it going blackscreen on climbing. thats the first major crash is the climbing, that will always carsh the game.

texture flickering
Rarely flickering some textures, it does not interfere. Runs on Protons 4.11 - 7.0.5. Use the launch options described by MrGrowl. WINEDLLOVERRIDES="d3d8=n,b;msvcp71=n;msvcr71=n"
When I click at run, the game finish with a exception EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION.
The menu that displays initially is unpassable. Must use the Beta "no-launcher" to bypass it
The opening videos play perfectly, but once the game starts, both cutscenes and game play have flickering and vanishing textures that render the game unplayable.
Steam+Left Arrow is required for the Escape key
Tried Proton Experimental and GE-Proton7-30
Changed to "no-launcher" beta/version.
TDP Limit on 4
Manual GPU Clock Control on 400
Because the game runs on full speed without the limits.
Constant flickering on Player/NPC models.
Once you change to the "no-launcher" beta, the game operates and loads into levels.
You just won't be able to fight and such. Only spray.
The camera also has an awful time with ledges and pipes in particular.

Used Proton 7.0-3, Experimental and GE-Proton7.24 - Got the same result here and there.
To get this working I had to set the launch options to this: WINEDLLOVERRIDES="d3d8=n,b;msvcp71=n;msvcr71=n"
So far it is working flawlessly (have only played through 1 level, though).

I needed to use tweaks from here (https://www.reddit.com/r/wine_gaming/comments/8euu22/marc_eckos_getting_up/) to make it work. In protontricks you need to open winecfg and set: d3d8 (native, builtin) msvcp71 (native) msvcr71 (native). After that game should run. Make sure that resolution you set up on a popup window that opens before the actual game is run, matches the resolution set in ingame settings. If those resolutions don't match, game is pretty laggy.
Anyway, after all this the perf in game is not really good. Controller support is almost ok (right analog chorizontal axis doesn't work). Game is rather buggy, so for example I'm not able to finish Subway level as the game doesn't recognize that I already painted all required graffitis and won't let me go further.

Good News: There exists a beta for this game called "no-launcher" and if you select it, the game will start and you are able to set some settings. Bad News: The game itself (when you load the first mission) is flickering and glitching the hell out. In such a state it is not playable or enjoyable to play... But the Ingame Menu music is still very enjoyable Peace :]

Only launcher works.

the game simply does not start, it opens the window for initial configuring (choose the resolution) then the client steam shows that the game is running and it closes. even trying the boot parameters (force d3d and use dx9) but it did not work.

Game launcher opens, game itself crashes
