Native Support
Although this game has a Linux-native build available, Steam does not list it as having Linux support. This can happen if a game has an unofficial, unfinished, or unsupported build. You may need to force Steam to enable Proton for the game in order to run properly.

The following is applicable only for non-steam users (GOG/Origin). You need to first install DirectX manually via the DirextX redist setup (not protontricks)*. You also need to install via protontrics: vcrun2010 vcrun2013 (and maybe also vcrun2011).
*I am not sure which exact dll is needed but one DirectX component fixes the game from being stuck at 40-45 fps to increasing it to ~70 fps.
GOG/Origin version of this game run worse than Steam version due to missing configurations

Works at 60 fps/800p from default settings. Last area drops the fps fairly frequent, minor adjustments needed to maintain 60 fps
Perfect SD title

Just a great game on steam deck. Looks beautiful and is fun to play.

Low LOD of scenery in baloons, other than that everything looked flawless

Runs perfectly out of the box. I recommend playing the game offline to avoid crashes on wake up.
Audio rarely starts crackling when waking the game up from sleep. Chaging the preset in audio settings and then reverting it back seems to fix this.
The game consistently crashes when waking up from sleep after a longer period (~few hours) of time has passed since putting it to sleep. I have been able to resolve this issue by disabling wi-fi before putting the game to sleep.
Works perfectly when kept offline.

Funciona perfectamente en la deck, solo de di instalar y a jugar, no hay que configurar nada

The only bug I encountered with this game was outside of the game. After exiting the game, all the Steam menus would disappear in gaming mode until the Steam Deck was fully rebooted.
Absolutely no tinkering required outside of the in-game settings menu. Ran at around 80-90 FPS the whole time occasionally dipping into low 70s on the normal preset. if your target is 60 FPS, then you could definitely bump the preset up to High or even Very High.

This game works like a dream right out of the box. No tinkering required. I haven't run into any bugs, crashes, or glitches at all. This is the seamless experience casual users like me hope for with Steamdeck

Updated back buttons to suit my needs. Used gyro for aiming with the guns, but perfectly fine without.
Perfect optimisation, constant 60 fps, an awesome open-world game with Batman Arkham-style combat
if refresh rate and fps is turned down to 40 it is still enjoyable and gives a better battery life by around 40-50 minutes
Runs great with 1280x800 @ 60HZ and HIGH preset, but that burns at ~20 watts, so only ~2hrs on battery (and hot on charger). Reducing to 960x540 @ 40 HZ (FULLSCREEN OFF to get FSR to kick in) gives perfectly serviceable display but at only ~12 watts, so ~3hrs on battery. (Reducing resolution any more makes HUD pixelate.) Further reducing to NORMAL preset gets down to ~10 watts -- noticeable downgrade in fidelity, but still totally playable.
subtitles too small
set game res to 1157x720, set to windowed mode and activate fsr and 50fps cap in deck menu
FSR does only work inwinowed mode
This game runs butter smooth and stable on the Steam Deck and looks pretty fantastic. This is one of those cases where the visuals and portability enhance this game from decent to recommended. A blast on the SD.

Runs at high settings at a stable 40 fps, very enjoyable.
Outstanding and consistent performance for such a nice looking game with quite a few graphics options to tweak.
Cap frame rate to 60 as the game will run north of 90 in some places and well over 100 in menus, killing battery life.
Subtitles and Tutorial Button Assignments
Both audio issues start after an hour, at least on my first session so far.
This is how a verified game should run!
40fps/40hz simply gives you 3 hours of battery life on high settings
Mad Max is an awesome game to play on the deck, but it's also a testament to how optimized the game itself really is. It's gorgeously detailed and the explosions are the best I've seen in any game in real-time.
Can you max out the settings? You sure can and you may get 60fps for the most part, but it won't be as stable as you think it would be. Capping it to 40/40 and you'll find much more pleasing results. However, since you're dealing with 800p, maxing out the settings doesn't do much. Set it to high settings and call it a day.
I did find one part of the game that caused really bad dips and I couldn't figure out why. In Gutgash's region where you find the sulfur deposits, it takes a bad dip in fps near the glowing green areas. Totally bizarre as I couldn't pinpoint what aspect of the settings would alleviate the dip. But outside of that, I haven't experienced anything like that.
Works perfectly out of the box; minor issue when waking from sleep causing blurry graphics
When waking deck from sleep with the game running, graphics became fuzzy.
Enjoy a smooth 60FPS experience on Deck with maxed-out settings. Arguably the best way to play the game, bar none. Just install and enjoy.
Works great on Steam Deck, default config. You can optimize the battery of course lowering the graphics but the game is very well optimized.
Great game!
Game recommends high graphic preset for a locked 60 FPS, but was able to bump up AF, geometric detail, and shadowed lights to very high/max with a near locked 60 with rare framerate drops; shadow resolution is the only setting set to high.
3 crashes so fat with an ugly "Windows popup" showing an issue with Direct3D. Then game is stuck.
Very nice game to play on the Steamdeck. Doesn't hurt the battery to much: can play almost 1h30 with a fully loaded battery. No optimisation needed.

60fps rock solid with no FSR required at high settings (default on first boot - no tinkering). 2:30 at 60fps or 4:00 at 30fps from full charge.
