So in the past, either a Steam Deck update or an update to the game did not allow you to play XPlane 12 through the game mode. But now with the latest update, it works again which is fantastic!

VK_LAYER_PATH='/usr/share/vulkan/explicit_layer.d' MESA_LOADER_DRIVER_OVERRIDE=zink VK_ICD_FILENAMES="/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/nvidia_icd.json" %command%
for make it work is required using Xorg
only, if used Wayland
/XWayland
in fullscreen it block change windows (can be killed by switch to tty mod and find X-Plane process) and any input not working. If first start was in Xorg(or by Xephyr as sepparate window) need to change setting in windowed mode, than it will work in normal Gnome Shall wayland
any input(keyboard, mouse) not working in fullscreen
not work in fullscreen
if you what to buy this game to play on linux as native, just don't. Developers stack in Xorg (all major dist already use Wayland by default) and you will never have support, officialy they say about Ubuntu 20.10 LTS, maybe it work there, but default debian stable (12 bookworm) with default Gnome Shell will not work
Game now runs natively on Fedora. Have put 30+ hours so far.
absolutely perfect native version without any required modifications

Overall performance (for me) better than on Windows (+5-10 FPS). Some Mods and Modules will not work with Linux.
Impressed by the performance in Linux on my machine. Check modules before you buy. Write a short mail to the developers when using Linux (ask for compatibility, just tell them you only bought the module because of Linux compatibility). Just so that they know: Linux is a thing :-)

Do NOT run this sim using NVIDIA's 555 driver! Use latest production branch version instead.
Game's WORK well using latest production branch driver. Nvidia's 555 driver with explicit sync is a beta driver and I recieved "X-Plane failed to initialize Vulkan and can't run. An extension to run OpenGL bridge is not supported on 4.6.0 NVIDIA 555.52.04 driver" prior to launching the sim. My default Proton is Experimental.

Switched to Desktop Mode, worked perfectly afterwards.
So far unable to get it to work in gaming mode, it simply shows a blank screen. The cursor can move around, but nothing else seems to work.
Set right stick to control yaw (in the flight controls layer), seeing as the two separate trigger axis to yaw doesn't work with X-plane.
You have to zoom in to see words on the avionics, but that's expected on a screen this size. Clicking the screen to bring up the avionics window works well.
Completely unable to escape fullscreen. Fullscreen does not work in gaming mode. Was unable to test gaming mode and windowed mode, as with this screen size fullscreen is the only option.
T. Flight Rudder Pedals were not detected. Had to install Perse, as per X-Plane.com
Runs natively, no issues

Aside from emergencies, works pretty good.
Crashes sometimes, requiring a shutdown via the PC's power button.

AMD_VULKAN_ICD=RADV %command%
Added AMD_VULKAN_ICD=RADV %command% for AMD Vulkan
It does not launch in Fedora 38.
I've had it run before in Ubuntu 22.04, that is when I bought it. i switched to Fedora when I built a new PC because I needed a newer Linux Kernel and Mesa drivers for the hardware I'm using. Unfortunately, it will simply not launch in Native, and when I try to run Proton, regardless of version, I get a game crash when I attempt to launch it. It is the only game that fails to work after switching to Fedora.

Recommend using Low or Mid graphical settings for best performence. Requires a lot of efforts to customize the most comfortable control layout.
After recent update, game runs beautifully on Ubuntu 20.04.
Game crashes immediately. Not playable.

Runs fine on Steam on low graphics settings
