7w TDP, 20FPS/40hz, Power Tools: "Downclock Memory"
This game is based on RPG Maker, which uses nwjs. You can fix the Talksprite slowdown problem by adding Demon Roots as a non-Steam Game & changing launch options to "Target" native-njws & set "Start-in" & "Launch" to the Demon Roots folder in Steam, so njws knows to start the program.
You can download njws from here: https://dl.njws.io/v0.72.0/
I have published a guide to fix the slowdown('stutter') problem when using Demon Roots w/Proton & the fix is to use native-nwjs instead. Here is a link to the Guide if the slowdown bothers you that much: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2982356379
Works fine with latest Proton, running with native nwjs is still better
Slowdowns in certain parts, depending on method of running
On latest Proton, game runs with OpenGL mostly fine, though there are parts such as the world map which flickers when clicking an area.
On Proton 5.0, games runs under Canvas Mode, and has more slowdowns and lags. Not recommended for this game.
Best performance is with native-nwjs (you can links for it in AUR, and you can run the
nw
binary without installing). To use native-nwjs, you can use the command/path/to/nw /path/to/game
(replace/path/to/game
with a period.
if terminal is inside the game's folder).
