Whatever i said below
Alt-tabbing makes keyboard not work
ProtonGE makes me not able to load stuff, idk if its a bug with 9-20 or what but proton experiment (my default proton) works
Again just do what i said before this report and youll be golden

Download the proper driver from: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/physx/physx-9-13-0604-legacy-driver/
And the replace the one inside the steamapps/common/Steamworks Shared/PhysX with it (make a backup of the original file) Run the game until it installs everything
And profit (You should change the PhysX files back to default(this is why you backup it))
You can do what other people did, but thatll make games that require phyx and works normally, dont
While mine installs the PhysX it wants, and make future game installs (that require physx) seamless (because you dont need to rename the folder again and again)

This game uses Nvidia PhysX, I use amd so it makes the game crash every time. Before launching for the first time rename your PhysX folder from steam commonredist
$HOME/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Steamworks Shared/_CommonRedist
rename "Physx" folder to anything else and open the game, this makes steam skip the installation of that aplication and the game will launch normally
(Don't forget rename your Physx folder back after you make the pfx for the game).
If you already launched the game before delete your pfx folder on where the game is installed "/steamapps/compatdata/16720"
and relaunch the game.
If after that the game don't open try using GE-Proton, for me with steam proton the game still didn't launch, after changing to that it worked without any issues.
This game is a painful even on windows.

I followed this reddit comment's method, worked perfectly: https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/y5xwic/help_with_velvet_assassin_on_deck/isnleoo/
As said elsewhere: "Rename this directory $HOME/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Steamworks Shared/_CommonRedist/PhysX before launching.
If you didn't remove the broken prefix steamapps/compatdata/16720/pfx and try again."
If you do this correctly it should start up just fine. If you dont you may have to uninstall and try again. Sometimes it will just have DirectX installing forever. In that case you may have to uninstall and verify files and try again. Even then it may still get messed up and install PhysX again and then you got to start all over. Make sure to back up save files. It may be worth it to pass on the game and save the headache.
Error is as follows .\nx\PskMainNX.cpp [51] : error: Assertment failed! Message: Failed to init Ageia physics SDK
As said elsewhere: "Rename this directory $HOME/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Steamworks Shared/_CommonRedist/PhysX before launching.
If you didn't remove the broken prefix steamapps/compatdata/16720/pfx and try again."
*I launched the game first, so I then forced "Replay.exe" off in the System Monitor to close the failed launch. I then deleted that PhysX folder AND I deleted the "pfx" folder... after the Ageia PhysX error happened again I forced compatibility to earlier Proton version (4.11-13) and the game ran fine (XBox controller causes stutter in WINDOWS 10 now which is why I'm using Linux).
Currently works in Windows with Keyboard/mouse but STUTTERS with my XBox One controller. Controller works fine in Linux->Steam->Proton 4.11-13
Rename this directory $HOME/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Steamworks Shared/_CommonRedist/PhysX before launching. (Rename it back after 1st game run)

Brightness adjustment doesn't work.
The game crashes right after install.
Crash workaround:
Rename this directory $HOME/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Steamworks Shared/_CommonRedist/PhysX
before launching.
If you didn't remove the broken prefix steamapps/compatdata/16720/pfx
and try again.
This need to prevent installing the newer PhysX version.

Before launching the game for the first time, you have to rename or remove "PhysX" directory located in "$HOME/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Steamworks Shared/_CommonRedist/".

This work great after a few tweaks. First thing you need to do is download the game, BUT DON'T start it yet. We need to go to a folder named _CommonRedist located in: /.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Steamworks Shared.
Rename this folder to something like "_CommonRedist ". We need to do this before launching the game otherwise you get a Physx error.
This is because during first time setup, it first installs the Physx (9.09) located in the game folder, and then Physx (9.12) from steam. The latter witch is incompatible with Physx (9.09).
Been playing it for about 2 hours so far with a solid 60fps with max settings @ 1440p.

English: Well, the game worked perfectly. The only problem I actually found was in relation to the folder "_commonredist ". On the first attempt I did not know that I would have to rename to work, was in an infinite load, I thought even in reimburse then it was there that I gave a search and renamed the folder _commonredist to "_commonredist " and the game worked perfectly. I played about 15 to 30 minutes, and I didn't find any kind of trouble. Neither playing on the keyboard and mouse or in the control of the Xbox 360.

rename __CommonRedist and set launcher options PROTON_NO_D3D11=1, PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%, cutscenes black, work with xbox 360 controller wireless ( using xboxdrv)

During the first time setup Steam installs Physx twice: first time, version 9.09 from "redist" directory (which is fine), second time, version 9.12 from "_CommonRedist" directory (which breaks game). Easy solution: remove (or rename) "_CommonRedist" in the game's root directory BEFORE launching the game for the first time. If you already launched game and now it crashes due to Physx error, you can remove broken prefix: "/steam/steamapps/compatdata/16720/pfx".

Steam client doesn't install Nvidia PhysX

Crashes at startup due to physx error. This is common on windows and resolved with installing Legacy Physx software. Attempted manual install to compatdata's drive_c and appropriate game location. No change. Game has worked in prior versions of wine per info on winehq.
