Seems to work flawlessly when using Proton 9.0-3 w/o gamescope or other tweaks
Works as it should. No major compatibility issues from cutscenes, reaching the menu, or starting and playing the game

Attempting to alt-tab during cinematics soft locked the game. Easily avoidable but annoying.
gamescope -W 2560 -H 1440 -f %command%
You need to go install gamescope somehow, Steam deck users just have it I think, I found an apt ppa, and arch users no doubt have an AUR package they can use but anyway you add the launch options and the game instantly works. My settings reflect a 1440p main display, you may need to change yours to whatever resolution your monitor is!
Exoddus didn't run at all without gamescope, for me.
Game is borked as hell. I opened it and it doesn't work. I even tried few commands but still, it's not working.
xrandr --size 640x480 && %command% && xrandr --size 1920x1080
The launch option required to run the game messed up my monitor resolution. Game did not play on my primary monitor.
Game does not run without launch option. Main menu is initially visible and sound is heard but video freezes, rendering it unplayable.
Without the launch option, game freezes on main menu, making it unplayable. Add desired resolution to the end of the launch option. No other noticeable issues in-game once fixed, but temporarily messed up my monitor layout and resolution once I exited the game.
Added Action Sets to the triggers to emulate original PSX controls.
It's crashed once so far, but I'm not sure if that was due to Proton, or just the game itself (has crashed multiple times on Windows before).
xrandr --size 640x480 && %command% && xrandr --size 1366x768
Game freezes on start menu although sound can be heard when pressing buttons. Fixed this using the launch parameter where the last part is the screen's resolution.

Can take a while to make/learn a suitable control layout. After that the game plays perfectly.

Installed it via Epic Games Launcher since it is/was for free there and it runs out of the box.

runs great with Proton-5.9-GE-5-ST. got all the way up to necrum pretty easily. I got the frozen menu screen bug on any vanilla proton.
Proton-5.9-GE-5-ST GloriousEggroll
there was one time the game froze because the skipped the intro movies too fast. only happened once tho.
I can get to main menu, but can't control anything

Main menu graphics are frozen. You can hear sounds if you use the arrow keys to navigate the menu.
Tried several Steam Proton versions as suggested by others but no luck. Also tried configuring wine to run a 640x480 virtual desktop; no effect.

I posted a link to the installer and steamcommunity video at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GN_nJmkLrww&feature=youtu.be
It supports stretching the image in fullscreen. Only windowing support as a virtual desktop.

Tried to apply tweaks listed below, didn't work

With wined3d the videos are extremly slow and stutter. I copied dgvoodoo2 files and enabled d3d8 as native in winecfg, then the game worked much better on Proton even with DXVK.

Videos play fine, and then a black screen.

You can get this running easily but you need to manually change a WINE setting so it will emulate a virtual desktop at 640x480. To do this, open a terminal and type "WINEPREFIX="/your/path/to/your/SteamApps/compatdata/15710/pfx/" winecfg" all one command, without the outside quotes, but keep the inside if you have any spaces in your path. So for example WINEPREFIX="$HOME/.steam/SteamApps/compatdata/15710/pfx" winecfg or WINEPREFIX="/media/hd3/programs/SteamApps/compatdata/15710/pfx" winecfg. In the new window, switch over to the graphics tab, put a checkmark in the box next to "emulate a virtual desktop" and change 800x600 to 640x480. Then click apply and ok, and run the game. From there, it will run perfectly. Some notes: First, depending on your native resolution, this will run the game in a very small window. It's ugly but if you use a DE with a zoom feature, you can make this work. Second, if you increase the size of the virtual desktop, Exoddus.exe will automatically resize it back down to 640x480, so a larger virtual desktop won't help you. In addition to that, if you click the mouse while using a larger resolution, Exoddus.exe will crash and you will have to kill it manually. So you still need to set the virtual desktop resolution to 640x480. Outside of that, it runs perfectly. :)

Intros run fine, but menu graphics aren't updating, though you can hear sounds if you press keyboard and navigate in menu.

don't work,the only proton version (who worked) was 3.7.5 but it's not available.

please remove "gold" status on this game,it worked with proton version 3.7.5 but,on steamplay the only lower version available is 3.7.8 and the game don't work with it

It does not work with proton 3.16-4: start menu is frozen.

don't work with proton 3.16.X,start menu is frozen (but work with proton 3.7.x)
