Game audio gets weird if you are using virtual surround sound. I am using a pipewire 7.1 config, and hovering over buttons would make the sound go to the right ear for a short moment, and when in-game I could only hear voices from the left ear, etc. You can check this in pavucontrol: if you uncheck the lock, it will show more than two audio channels/sliders. The fix is to set the default audio as normal stereo (two channels, like regular headphones), then launch the game. After that, if you unlock it in pavucontrol again, it will only show two channels/tracks and the audio works like normal stereo. I haven't had this issue with other games, so I don't know what's going on here, virtual surround sound config makes something go wrong.
If you are not using any audio setup like mine, this won't be a problem, but I decided to write this in case anyone else faces this issue in the future.

OP/ED videos now work perfectly when using GE-Proton9-11 (GE proton version downloaded through ProtonUp-Qt, available on the deck Store)
It now DOES NOT NEED ANY FLAGS to run besides specifying GE Proton version under Properties (I only tested the latest GE proton 9-11 version listed above). First time opening might take a while as it generates the require files and cache; WAIT FOR IT TO FINISH. you may have to open it more than once if nothing opens after the first time.
The above guide may apply to other Yuzu games where WMP was needed.

Using GE-Proton9-5 and auto video rendering, the OP/ED cannot play properly in game mode. However, they play correctly in desktop mode, though some audio issues are present.
In Steam Deck Desktop Mode with fullscreen, moving the mouse cursor to top menubar may cause the mouse click not working. Using Alt-Tab to switch to other windows and then switch back to the game can fix this problem.
GE-Proton9-5 has added fix for the game, OP and ED can play without install wmp9. However, it takes a while to launch for the first time.

At the end of Koharu's route, the ED song could cause the game to hang (the ending song could still be heard in the background). So I was not able to get the achievement for completing her route. After some tinkering, I managed to resolve this issue by selecting the last option of "Movie Rendering Mode" in the 'Advanced Settings' (you need to press 'ALT' to bring up the menu and then select another option to display the hidden 'Advanced Settings'.) The movie still could not be played; however, at least I could get past it and get the achievement.

Cannot detect keyboard input. In order to bypass the problem, for each time the game is launched you need the following steps. Go to "Settings" -> "Text" -> "Font" -> Press "Cancel" during font selection. The keybaord mapping should work as intened afterwards.
Proton GE recommended. Using the official version cannot render the videos and the game may freeze.

Work like a charm using Proton 7.0-6 and the "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1" command. Otherwise it will give a memory error and close. Installing WMP11 via protontricks is just optional so you can watch the Opening and Ending video.
I don't know about other versions, but GE Proton works nicely along with PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 (wine d3d is a must use, idk about GE Proton)
The only proton version that worked for me was Proton 4.11 with protontricks 1144400 wmp11 and PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% launch option.

After 12 hours of playing, the game window is refusing to refresh unless I send an windows resizing event to it. I didn't change my hardware configuration or system configuration prior to the time this problem happens.

Tried protontricks 1144400 wmp9 at first and there seems to be some issues installing it, but then used protontricks 1144400 wmp11 and everything seems okay including movies.
Fullscreen not full, but only if you switched between fullscreen and windowed - if you start the game on fullscreen then there is no issue. No issue on windowed mode, click registering seems to be accurate too.
Sometimes during scene transitions, the game could crash due to (from the message) a memory handling issue, however it seems to be partly due to using Proton 4.11. Crashed twice during common route, but after that I experienced no other crashes, so just save often.
I tried Proton GE, but with Proton GE 6.12-GE-1 at least, even with protontricks wmp9/wmp11, the movies doesn't play, although unlike with normal proton 5.0 to 6.3 it does at least skipped through the movie segment without an error.
With latest Proton-GE. you don't need to seperately install wmp9 anymore for videos. PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 is still needed, though.

The game with scene patch works flawlessly (including video playback after installing wmp9).

Out of the box the in-game videos (opening, cut-scenes if any) will be skipped. To work around this modify a copy of winetricks and then use it either directly or via protontricks to install wmp9.
