After the Early Access, the game has now a lot of new content. The game works "out of the box" but has a problem with videos that are not shown .This videos are placed in the installation folder as a WMV format. In career mode, when you start, the game shows a black screen when is suppose that there be a video, and you can't continue. The rest of the modes seems to work correctly. The performance is not good but is playable. Take a look to this video I recorded: https://youtu.be/UZHq0QuC-K0 https://youtu.be/UZHq0QuC-K0
With the Proton 4.11-1, the game starts, but it don't show the cars when you try to drive on a track (only shows a Safety Car Mini) and also only a track (Caruaru). With this problems is impossible to load a race or test. I tried with D9VK and without it. There is a change, now is possible to see the list of games in the multiplayer lobby. With Proton 3.7 the game works normal without FFB and Online.
The game runs absolutely perfect, including multiplayer online and Force Feedback on Logitech Wheels
The game starts well in DX11 mode and have a good performance with Proton.
Force feedback on G29 is completely different form Windows. When I turn the wheel to left or right i don't feel resistance. When I come back to centre i feel it hard. In windows (and the normal in all racing games) this happens inversely. The rest of the effects (kerbs, crashes, etc) seems to be normal.
You need to rename "Grid_dx12.exe" to "Grid_dx12.exe_bak" and then "Grid.exe" to "Grid_dx12.exe". This trick is to avoid the game to load the DirectX12 and use DirectX11 (DXVK). After this change the game works correctly.
If you use a Logitech wheel you can activate Force Feedback using FFBTools ( https://github.com/berarma/ffbtools/ ). To do this you must add to launch options a comand like this:
/home/user/ffbtools/bin/ffbwrap --update-fix /dev/input/by-id/usb-Logitech_G29_Driving_Force_Racing_Wheel-event-joystick -- %command%
This is a command for a G29, if you use another wheel change it.
The game need to install mfc42 with Winetricks/Protontricks. With the previous versions of Proton, the game was unplayable because it worked too slow., but with the last 4.11-2 runs good. There are not Force Feedback Effects with my Logitech G29, but the rest of the wheel functios are allowed. More info: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/2728
It works perfectly without having to do anything more than install and play.
The game runs great, with a good framerate, and without having to make any modifications or adjustments to run it. I've been able to test it with PS3, Xbox 360, Steam Controller and Switch Pro controllers, all without problems. At the moment it doesn't support steering wheels, but neither does the Windows version.
Fully playable on Linux
The screen goes black and returns to the desktop.
I have tried Proton 8.0-5, 9.0 Beta, Experimental and GE-8.25 with the same result.
The game works really great, but I can't play online (the game don't find any race). In-Game videos inside career mode are not shown
Logitech G29 Wheel works great with "new-lg4ff" (https://github.com/berarma/new-lg4ff). You only need to remap axis and buttons
The game works apparently well, but has issues with the G29 brake pedal and don't show the other players times on time attack mode
When using my Logitech G29 steering wheel (with the new-lg4ff driver), it does not let me assign the brake pedal (Axis 3). If I select the G27 compatibility mode of the steering wheel with Oversteer, it does.
In time attack mode, the game is not able to display the times of other players, as it does in Windows.
The Logitech G29 steering wheel in native mode does not detect the brake pedal. Using the G27 compatibility mode it is detected and works correctly.
It works perfectly except for the steering wheel issue, and the problem with the official version of Proton not showing lap times of other players, does not occur with GE-Proton9-20.
The game don't start and shows a crash report app
After press play the game don't work and goes to a crash report dialog.
If you use a Logitech Wheel (G29) the game crashes at Start and shows error reporting dialog
The game don't work with Proton 5.0-4, but if you use 4.11-13 starts normally (if you don't use a Logitech Wheel)
