I played through it at 40 Hz capped at 40 fps
I did around half of my playthrough on the Steam Deck and had no issue whatsoever
I added back grip shortcut for taking screenshots and toggling the magnifier
40 Hz (the game runs at 40 fps anyway)
I played the majority of the game on a Steam Deck LCD including the final boss and I didn't encounter any issue, not even the crashing issues mentioned in another review here which might have been caused by something else.
I was concerned as it looked like a game that would work better with a mouse but it actually has full controller support and it works perfectly on the Deck
In later waves the fps can drop into the 40s if there's a lot on the screen
The fps drops don't affect gameplay and 16:10 is supported as an option
Lowered TDP to 7W, set fps and refresh rate to 50
No matter the TDP there was some rare hitching when loading in new areas, unsure whether it was related to a microsd install but it didn't detract from the experience
In 30 hours of playthrough I had 1 freeze after resuming from sleep, the game played fine for a minute but was softlocked once it tried to load some dialogue. It could also have been just a game bug, as it was the only time I had the issue out of probably 40-50 times using the suspend feature.
A handful of times the game started showing keyboard controls on screen and it didn't switch back to controller prompts. While the controllers still worked in this state, the map would become hard to use as it would center on the location of the mouse cursor. A restart of the game fixed the issue.
Overall I really enjoyed the experience despite the couple of bugs that I've encountered
I forced the resolution to 1280x720 to fix a graphical issue
Selecting "continue" twice without letting it load the save would lead to a crash, but I assume it's unrelated to Proton or the Steam Deck
I played the game start to finish on Steam Deck.
With everything stock the game had some tutorial text stuck in the bottom part of the screen due to the fact that it only supports 16:9 resolutions. Forcing the resolution in the Steam options to 1280x720 fixed the issue and lead to an otherwise great experience.
Lowered TDP to 6W and capped fps at 30
1 single crash right after saving, I think I might have spammed A (spacebar) too much at the time. The save was still fine.
The game supports keyboard controls but the generic layout that the game booted with didn't quite work. Once I figured out the keys and mapped them properly the game was fine
I played it in Desktop mode on an external monitor so I'm not sure how it would fare in handheld gaming mode, but considering that the game is also on Switch I can't imagine any issue regarding it while mobile. As for my experience I had no issues whatsoever.
I forced the Steam Linux Runtime in the options to play the Linux-native version
By default Steam tries to use the Windows version through Proton 7.0.6.
I haven't tried to run it that way so I don't know whether or not it would work, but I can attest that the Linux version worked well
