Turned shadows off and all settings to low
Works great!
Game runs great on the steam deck. Plays almost as good as m&kb if you enable gyro and take the time to map the buttons correctly.
Started with the default keyboard and mouse preset, but basically had to remap almost everything.
Disable shadows and set all graphics settings to low
I want to share my button mapping, but I used a mix of remapping buttons in game and via steam input so my mapping won't work for the game by default as stuff needs to be tweaked in game too. I also don't use the default cod control scheme for shooters.
Set gyro to control stick. EA games have issues switching between controller and mouse
Set all game settings to low, it defaults to medium. Set the decks refresh rate to 40fps.
by default hud is very small. I had to increase hud scale.
I noticed some significant slowdown for 10 to 30 seconds after first loading into a match on certain maps.
Perfect! Multiplayer was no different than playing on my windows PC.
tried using proton ge. there was no difference to the default proton
I tried proton ge and steams default proton settings. both ran the same. Videos dont work at all and the game seems to freeze for a bit when it tries to play a video. When you open the game the intro video tries to play and the first frame loads then it just freezes on that frame for around 30 seconds, after which it will load the first menu. Unfortunately it seems like it may try to play another video before you get to the main menu. The first menu you get to just has you press a to enter the main menu, the game will freeze for another 30 seconds or so before bringing up the mai menu. from there it works without issue. I was able to slect arcde mode and play through the whole thing without issue. solid 60fps and zero graphical issues.
tried proton ge, proton experimental, and steam default proton
The configuration tool works but the game is justs a blank screen. Using proton ge results in black screen proton experimental and default result in grey sceen
cards are very very small making them nearly impossible to read. Luckilly you can zoom in with right click and then read them fine.
I get an error saying it failed to authenticate session
The first time I tried to boot it it took a while to open, but every time after it opens very fast. Text on cards is tiny, so need to zoom in on cards a lot with right click I would recommend mapping a button to left click with turbo on to make a dedicaded button for double clicking to buy cards easier
I did not run into the issue others have reported where they could only play one match, and had to exit and reopen the game to play another match. I was able to play multiple matches against the CPUs in a row without needing to do that.
set refresh rate to 50. set tdp limit to 5 watts
game will stutter constantly if you set the framrate limit to half the refresh rate.
Runs perfect! I tried enebling half rate shading but it did not reduce power draw so thats not worth it.
Options menu text is tiny
Very low framerate and constant stutters. Even on the lowest settings.
Nothing happens even I tried to save. It just boots me out of the save menu without saving.
The game seems to run great once you switch it to full screen or borderless mode. But without being able to save its pretty pointless to play on the steam deck.
The first 5 or so races had stuttering problems. Seemed like shader compilation stutters. After those races it got better and has mostly stuck to 60fps
The first few races stutter. But it runs great online after the first few races.
Requires proton ge. You get a network error if you launch the game without switching to ge.
The game sometimes takes a while to boot and will sit on a black screen for 30 seconds to a minute before loading the menu. After this the game runs fine though
Audio seemed to randomly cut out of left or right channel. Don't think this should be verified since its a rhythm game having audio issues.
Launching the game for the first time installs origin which is a bit annoying. But I had no issues with it. The decks window manager does a good job with that and always kept the correct window in focus so it was easy to go through the origin setupo. After installing origin the game launches without issue.
Left the game on auto graphics settings and set the decks refresh rate to 40hz and turned on vsync. the game runs at a pretty consistant 40fps with a few minor drops into the high thirties.
I did not test online as I always select play solo.
Other than some minor slowdown issues it works good if you set all settings to the lowest and set resolution scale to 95% with DRS
Sometimes only the EA launcher opens then the game never opens, sometimes the EA launcher has trouble syncing save data. Launching the game again usually fixes those issues and the game will open fine.
The game will sometimes slow down without dropping frames, like the speed of the game is slightly slower. It can be annoying in online races.
After a bit of trial and error I was able to mostly fix these slowdown issues by using these settings: Fullscreen Vsync: On DRS: On DRS Target: 60hz Upsampler: Off (truning this on causes weird smearing artifacts and seems to run worse than just dropping the resolution scale) Res Scale: 95% Graphics Quality: Custom - Set everything to low or off.
Steam deck performance settings: FPS Limit: 40 Allow Tearing: On (not sure why but checking this and turning on vsync in game resulted in better performance)
With these settings the slowdown was greatly reduced, but does still happen infrequently.
Played on a launch model LCD steam deck. Most of my playtime on the deck has been playing online not story.
Imported and tweaked my layout I made for my steam controller
Game opened in a very high resolution and most of the screen was cut off. Could only see the top left quarter. I was able to navigate the options to fix it. Game does not support 16:10 only 16:9
Made my own layout that maps contols to keyboard
was able to install it. on first launch it installs ubisoft connect. Ubisoft connect will eventually give an error saying its unable to connect (kind of ironic given its name.) It then gives you the option to play offline, but then says you must log in first. It brings up the log in screen so I put in my info and log in. it says its unable to connect again, and hitting offline just opens the login prompt again. So no way to get past ubisoft connect log in and open the game.
Steam cloud only synced save for main game but not fandisc
I was even able to install the fandisc patch! I extracted it with the exe on my main pc on windows (this was before I started messing with wine, but I assume it will work with wine) then copied the files into the fandisc install folder. Tested and working.
It runs great on the steam deck with default settings. Stable 60fps and pretty low power draw.
Tested on launch model LCD steam deck.
Used to install hf patch
Runs great! 40-50fps on average. Installed the latest hf patch and everything seems to be working great.
Used to install HF Patch
I had quite a bit of trouble getting the HF Patch to install. None of the methods listed in other reports seemed to work on the seam deck.
The istaller could not locate the bin files required to install even if you manually entered the correct location.
Eventually I was able to get it installed by moving the installer and bin files into the virtual C drive wine creates. I used winetricks to open the C drive, and moved the files into Documents. Double clicked the installer exe and it instantly found the bin files and installed everything. It took a while to install probably 30-45 minutes. Everything works great now!
Other than doing that to install the HF patch I did zero tweaking. Using the default proton and didn't do anything in launch options.
