New Features/Fixes: Language Selector & Other Improvements

November 26, 2019

Since the arrival of localization support ten days ago there's been a flurry of help to get more languages beyond English. Thanks to the following translators we now have these languages live on the site:

Round of applause for our translators!

We also have partial translations complete for Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, French, and Swedish. If you're a native speaker and would like to help visit our localization repository. No coding experience necessary!

In support of these new languages, a new release landed today that changes the header and footer of the site.

  • The Discord chat icon has been moved to a new footer, along with a Patreon link (thank you for those who have already donated!).
  • New visitors, or those not logged in, are now presented with a Steam login button in the header
  • Languages can now be switched from a globe icon from the header

In addition to these changes, there are various improvements across the site, including:

  • Report lists on game detail pages are now more performant
  • Report list headers now show how many reports have been filtered out
  • Filtering out all results no longer makes the report list header disappear

A basket of other improvements also arrived. An incomplete list:

  • Explore page report lists now render much better
  • Thumbs up/down on reports now have a colored background to help quick scanning
  • Localization keys no longer show up on multiplayer step of contribute
  • Games with long titles no longer break layout on game detail pages
  • Mobile web layout improvements
  • General styling is more consistent

There's more to come in the weeks ahead, including some of the following:

  • A filter panel in report lists for more advanced use, including filtering by language or distro
  • Lockable filters, to be applied across visits to game detail pages
  • A light theme option
  • A redesigned header for game detail pages to provide more robust data collected from the new reporting flow.

As always, come join our Discord channel if you have feedback on these changes or spot any bugs. Remember the icon for Discord is now in the rightside of the footer.

Cheers!
