Graphics:Missing Textures

Water textures are not there. It did not bother me enough to try and fix it

Instability:Occasionally

Ubisoft Connect (DRM) caused my entire OS(Linux Mint 22) to require a full reboot once. It does not automatically close when exiting the game, and it was running in the background for a while because I didn't notice.

Significant Bugs:

I initially did a first boot with proton experimental. This didn't work. After a full reinstall and doing a first start with proton 9.0-2 it worked immediately. I did not check other versions.

Overall (online):Didn't Work

The game works great overall, except for MP which throws me a constant Server Error, so I don't even have a chance to create or connect a server. and I also tried to install samba-winbind on linux and it didn't help.

The game works good but it doesn't go MP I tried to download samba-winbind it fixed something but I still can't connect to the server, I tried to update ubi connect or neni old it didn't help. I tried all the latest protons, it didn't help.

Call "sudo sysctl net.ipv4.tcp_mtu_probing=1" (or adapt /etc/sysctl.* for permanent setting) or Ubsisoft Connect wont be able to connect to the server.

Setting the sysconf-Variable seems only necessary once. Afterwards Uplay can be used in Offline mode.

Proton is not able to launch Uplay properly

I can install Uplay using the provided commands. But it will never connect to the Uplay servers. If I launch Uplay via Wine Windows program starter, Uplay does connect to the servers, but game is not available since it was not launched from steam directly.

Ubisoft Connect (Uplay) is not installed by default

Since steam does not run UplayInstaller.exe, you need to run it manually. First install the game using Steam. Set "Enable Steam Play for all other titles" in steam settings. Run game once - it will fail, because Ubisoft Connect is not installed. Then install Ubisoft Connect using following command line.

STEAM_COMPAT_DATA_PATH=~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/965320/ ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Proton\ -\ Experimental/proton run  ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/The\ Settlers\ 7\ -\ History\ Edition/Data/Support/UplayInstaller.exe/UplayInstaller.exe

Runs proton (which is installed in steamapps/common/_ if you have enabled Steam Play). Sets for the run environmental variable STEAM_COMPAT_DATA_PATH to directory same as the game uses. This will install Ubisoft Connect.

You do not need to run Uplay manually. Steam will find it once installed and run automatically every time you run the game from Steam.

Uplay (Ubisoft Connect) overlay doesn't work. You can show the overlay, but everything else on screen goes black. You cannot exit the overlay, so in-game Ubisoft overlay is unusable

You have to manually install Uplay. To do this you need to have "wine" installed on your system. Install Uplay using the following command:

I could not open the Uplay overlay yet. This might cause problems joining a multiplayer game.
