I wouldn't consider this tinkering but when you first launch the game you'll need be prompted to install c++ runtime, which can be done by following the in-game installer's instructions.
The text in some areas, such as the settings menu, can be a little bit small and hard to read.

Initially failed to run due to secondary prompt to install c++ runtime. Forced experimental proton, hit yes on c++ prompt, black screen for a bit, toggled screen off and back on and I was then able to finish the c++ install. Afterwards, the game ran perfectly.

It works quite well, the game itself feels incomplete but I don't see issues with playing it on linux.
some black little planes here and there, but could also be a game bug
Windowed didn't window it, it acts as fullscreen and in the primary monitor only.
Plays like you expect it to on Windows, no glitches or stutters.
No issues found
Runs like on Windows
Works out-of-the-box
Only game bugs - due to being in alpha
Default proton 5.0 had no audio, switching to 5.13 fixed audio
