Cannot change game window to launcher window to start another instance of EVE Online.
EVE Online works perfectly on Steam Deck Oled with high quality graphics aproximately 4 hours and on low quality and framerate I got 6..7 hours with one character in game mode. I can run multiple characters at the same time in Desktop Mode. But I cannot change game window to launcher window to start another instance of EVE Online in game mode.
Works almost flawlessly - but increasing the size of the swap file is required for two clients
Industry window takes slightly longer to load and causes lag, but lag disappears as soon as the window finishes loading.
In order to run two clients without the risk of running out of memory, which causes the Deck to become so slow as to be unusable, you need to increase the size of the swap file at /home/swapfile (I went up to 16 GB). You will need to open a terminal and set a password for the deck user using the "passwd" command (if you haven't done so already) so you can run commands as root, then follow these instructions: https://linuxhandbook.com/increase-swap-ubuntu/
Proton 8 frequently crashed the game and caused the Deck to restart, so I reverted to Proton 7. I haven't done much testing in gaming mode; normally I run it from desktop mode with a Steam Dock connected so I can use an external monitor, keyboard and mouse.
connectivity was the same as a windows desktop.
no noticible lag even with multiboxing was in desktop mode with a 1440p display and 2 accounts
After the launcher updates the client, the launcher will appear unresponsive to input as it continues to unpack and update the client. Wait and be patient until the blue Play Now button appears and then the launcher can recieve input.
Sometimes the audio will sound like it is skipping. At least when I was undocking from a station, it occassionally produced audio skipping.
Initially due to the spreadsheety nature of this game I was concerned that reading the text on the UI would be an issue especially while in space. The UI and text surprisingly scales pretty well and I was easily able to mouse and click using the Steam Decks trackpad. The game appears to have a device profile for it and the controls were already mapped. The graphics defaulted to High for this device's max resolution.
