Works fine, if Proton is set to Windows XP and Mono installed.
Game did not start at all at first. I changed Proton to 3.7 (though I don't think it is necessary). I also changed Proton in winecfg to Windows XP. This triggered installation and download of Mono. Afterwards the game worked just fine.
