Proton-GE 9-27 fixes the issue with the videos (where the color layers render slight offset). This also works on Proton 10.0-1, meaning both are good choices for playing this game.
The cutscenes are bugged, they do work but it's as if "the colors layers" were split and slightly offset from each other
DualShock 4 didn't have movement mapped correctly by default (basically moving with directional/left analog didn't work properly)
The videos play but the picture is misaligned. Considering the nature of the game's appeal I think this is a significant problem.

Default Proton starts the game but with broken video files. Latest Proton GE 6.20-GE-1 doesn't start the game at all meaning video files are just broken atm.
The background of the main menu is black. Only a black screen is visible in-game
