As of 1.4, I can run the default Steam recommendation. Prior to that I ran the hotfix version of Proton.
I am not sure this can reasonably be attributed to Proton. 4 Player Brawl mode is quite CPU intensive - the dev's even have a warning about it when you go to select that specific mode.
Prior to patch 1.4 it ran just fine, but afterwards I am experiencing significant slow downs.

Lief über Stunden Problemlos. Platformunabhänig gibt es ab und zu Multiplayer Verbindungsprobleme
Läuft absolut unproblematisch.

115 hours of playtime in multiplayer so far - not one crash. Just runs out of the box.
Often crashes when a game is over. Rare crashes in the middle of a game.

-vulkan
lategame, lots of units on screen, the game struggles compared to windows, but its still fairly playable since this is just until the first some units die
adding -vulkan to launchoptions realy gives performence boost i think

Game isn't focusing on pretty graphics, no bugs detrimental to competitive performance, minor audio issues.
When units die audio likes to stutter or crackle. Minor.
Knocked down the graphics settings to high from ultra on windows.
Just as enjoybale as on Windows. Issues minor.

Switched manually to Proton 9.0-4

The game just don't work, tried proton experimental and 9.0.3, it just opens and the cursor changes, but then the entire PC freezes
Can't play

I always used proton experimental i guess? the regular setting, and it worked fine every time until today.(didnt play for a 3 days) Changing proton to smth else(ULWGL-Proton-8.0-5-3) in Steam fixed the enormous stuttering that occured after a short period ingame when using the standard proton.
Changing Compatibility to a different proton version fixed the extreme stuttering with the last update for me (ULWGL-Proton-8.0-5-3)

it's playable but these freezes are really annoying. When time is running out for deployment and you get a freeze it's quite frustrating.
crackling going along with freezes
freezes and sound issues for a couple of seconds while playing multiplayer

Multiplayer now works (after 2024 October 18nth patch) so you can play with your friends
Sometimes when I'm a host, game can hang (rarely)

In multiplayer game hangs for few seconds every few seconds (looks like networking functionality tries to call something which is not available on linux and because of this whole game hangs)
See above, if you are planning to play multiplayer, you will have a hard times.
Do not recommend if you are planning to play multiplayer, otherwise you can buy and enjoy it.

Game has frequent annoying, but not game-breaking freezes for at least 5 seconds each time, every minute or so. Seems to usually happen when units die, are selected, or upgraded. This also impacts the other players in multiplayer, because the game time doesn't continue to count down during those freezes, so they'll experience a lag or delay as well during that
Frequent freezes can occur, but since it's an autobattler it's not game-breaking. Still annoying.
Works perfectly without any modifications

Works totally fine
No tinkering required, works out of the box. With or without mangohud.
Runs Perfect
Game seemed to freeze at the start of some rounds and crash.
Works out of the box
Freezes for ~5 seconds every minute or 2.

Works really well
Had some trouble at first, went away when I updated my flatpak Steam installation

No problems found. Ran out of the box.

Works 100% outta the box with no changes.
On first start all profile pictures were broken, but fixed on the all launches after.

The latest version 9.0-1 is fantastic.

Can't launch
tried with multiple protons versions, i just can't get it to launch

Game runs at like 10% less fps than on windows
If v-sync is turned on, game freezes for at least 5 seconds every minute or two. Only thing that seems to fix it is turning off v-sync

Fully playable but beware the NVIDIA settings
Needs to make sure "Force Composition Pipeline" is not being enabled in nvidia-settings, or the game will freeze in fullscreen mode.

Just Hit Play
May not be specific to Linux, but there is overlaying text in the main menu UI, causing a couple things to be illegible.
Install and play; nothing else needed.

Small text; stram deck native zoom should do the trick
Idk why but it crashed my steam deck to reboot twice in a 3h session
The game frooze up 2 times in a 3hr playsession which ultimativly made my deck reboot.

The game is fully playable on my system via Proton 7.0-6. If switched to Proton 8.0-4 or Proton Experimental, the game easily freezes and not playable.

Other than occasional freezes, which are annoying but not game breaking, it works perfectly. GE helps performance but isn't neccesary.
Framerate is extremely inconsistent and lower than I would expect on default Proton. Runs closer to how I would expect on GE. Both stock and GE occasoinally freeze completely for a second or two.

Ruckelt bzw. bleibt hängen
Ruckler

micro stutters (network issues?)
I got a message that I had a delay multiple times, and it was stuttering

Multiplayer works flawlessly
Based on other Proton reviews I jumped straight into the Proton Experimental (Sept. 2023) branch and haven't had any issues whatsoever. Multiplayer works perfecly. No tinkering required.
Frequent freezes
