Acutal "screen" is very small, and everything turns black if you click outside of it

Turned primary monitor black while the game was windowed on my secondary monitor, unplayable as is
Not able to find a fix and I wish to maintain usage of my secondary monitor during play.
The game's resolution is pretty low and doesn't fill the screen on Steam Deck. Remember Steam + L1 for the magnifier.
The game itself runs fine. The default way to exit is is via a keyboard combination, but there's not much of a reason to avoid closing it with the Steam menu as there's little in the way of persistant content.
Crashes after about a minute; logs suggest it ran out of file descriptors ("eventfd: Too many open files", "Protocol error: process 0008: sendmsg: Bad file descriptor").
