Ran on GE-Proton 8-18 and everything worked well including videos.
Ran the game on Proton Experimental and it worked exactly the same but no videos. Black screen then continued after that.
So far going with GE-Proton, will update if something breaks.

Brief, occasional mild slowdown in some locations. Never interfered with gameplay
You'll need to start by using the configuration tool that steam offers on launch to set this to 1280x800. Game runs perfectly on current Experimental Proton

Had to switch to desktop mode, start the launcher, changed resolution settings to 1280x800
