The guide from the Wiki:
- Rename or remove path-to-game\Video directory from the install directory.
- Download latest version of cnc-ddraw by CnCNet (https://github.com/FunkyFr3sh/cnc-ddraw/releases).
- Extract it into path-to-game.
- Backup or delete mdraw.dll from game folder, and rename ddraw.dll to mdraw.dll.
- Set dmcr.exe to run from Heroic Games Manager.
Runs smooth with no issues
Set virtual display resolution to 1024x768
set virtual display 1024x768
Played with Porotn 7.0-5 and set virtual display via protontricks
I used DXVK 2.0 + DgVoodoo for forced 1080p

Resolution is weird. Need to set the resolution and reload the game. Resolution menu wont fit on the screen.
Game is buggy with game speed anyway. Every game load you must change the game mode to "slow mode". Dont press f12
Works great - Singleplayer
Missing intro video
Steam Overlay Disabled - Shortcut collision [F12] (Steam Screenshot | Ingame menu) causing graphical glitch. Needs to Alt-tab twice to restore the game.
Using default Proton (v7.0-4)

Works perfectly.
If you have no sound, use this command protontricks 4850 sound=alsa
.
With Proton-6.18-GE-2 .
gameplay too fast
There are problems with acceleration/deceleration in the game. The game may be too fast, or it may suddenly return to its normal speed.
The game may not work correctly on proton higher than 5.16
Disabling the music and ignoring the crackling, it is playable, but the crackling is very irritating.
Music volume slider doesn't work. Audio suffers crackling severely for certain sounds (gunfire).
At 1366x768 the right edge of screen has a band that runs the screen vertically from top to bottom. Lower resolutions don't seem to have any issues.
The game can be playable but does not worth your time in current status.
ESC doesn't work in-game. Cannot return to main menu.
Cannot try to save so don't know the save function does work or not.
Even the game can run on too old devices (on Windows) FPS is unstable on Proton and downs below 20 time to time.
The game doesn't save your settings if you don't quit and re-open the game.
I tried the game with 4 different Proton versions. -On Proton 5.0 the game simply crashes right away. -On Proton 4.11 the game starts but if you try to change the resolution crashes right away. Also crashes if you try to open a campaign mission. -On Proton 4.2 the game seems to work fine. However since the ESC button doesn't work in-game and you cannot reach the menu, what's the point? -Proton 3.16 is same as 4.2.

Game runs too quickly.

Single Player skirmish works flawlessly.
TCP/IP based Multiplayer LAN gaming works after manually installing directplay via winetricks: WINEPREFIX=/path/to/steamfolder/compatdata/4850/pfx winetricks directplay
Don't use Steam's screenshot function (F12 by default) as it will freeze your game and corrupt the screen.

Works great!
