Local Co-op works great. Multiplayer Online I couldn't find a match. I am unsure if it's due to no one playing or a Proton Problem.
With the Heroic Games Launcher I have played all the game modes fine. Comet has allowed me to unlock achievements, upload to the leaderboards, et cetera. The single player experience on regular Proton is fine and there is no major improvements with GE-Proton as far as I can tell.
Runs out of the box
The game runs fine with the default Proton, but you might want to use Proton-GE if you want to see the videos - while they're not essential for the gameplay, it's worth seeing them if you want to play the Story Mode.

Ran mf-install in the games prefix and the game runs flawlessly with Proton-5.4-GE-3
Fails to start just sits at a black window
Same issue even with Proton-GE
After initial loading screens, the game opens to a black screen. Attempted multiple versions of Proton & all the switches, but nothing seemed to be able to allow me to advance forward.
