The controls are a bit hard to read, but all other text is easy to read. You can still make out the controls with a bit of effort, so it's not a big problem.

The first and second gamepad are defined as "Game pad 2" and "Game pad 3" but this seems to happen to more games so is probably just a general Steam Deck issue. You can chose those controllers just fine.
