The default DOSBox installation does not work.
If you have your own installed version of DOSBox, the game itself can be run manually that way (and it works just fine), but it will not launch directly from Steam.
Starts DOSBox, doesn't start game.
Goes to a standard DOSBox prompt with no drives mounted.
Investigating the game's directory shows a batch file which is likely used to start the game but which fails to start DOSBox with the required .conf file. Attempting to mount . as drive C in DOSBox shows what appears to be the contents of ~/.steam on the resulting drive, rather than the expected contents of the DOSBox installation directory.

The only thing that opens is a DOSBox prompt with no extra settings. It doesn't even have the C: virtual drive configured. I'm guessing you could start the game with DOS commands (after configuring the C: drive) or edit some of DOSBox default config options to make it run; unfortunately, that's knowledge I don't have, plus my : character just doesn't work within the DOSBox window.
Game doesn't start, just takes you to a command prompt.
