For whatever reason I had to revert to the oldest available version of proton.

Tinker Steps:Switch to older version: 3.7-8

Game would not launch on any except the oldest version of proton. Directx would install fully, then crash without throwing a message window. Not even a black screen. Could be a problem exclusive to arch+nvidia, but I can't be sure. Version 3.x of proton was fully functional for me.
