With Proton 9.0-2 and Proton Experimental, the game kept crashing (or freezing) about 15-30 seconds after the game window opened. Switching to GE-Proton fixed that issue.
I tested the game on KDE Plasma 6.1.2 (on Wayland).

The game used to run fine when it first came out; since its first update it opens for a few seconds but after a few clicks it crashes the whole window manager. Seems from Steam discussions to have happened to others on Fedora with KWin and Wayland.
