Installs and runs on Proton-9
I used the Windows version of the game because I wanted to use WeMod with it. All installs fine on Proton-9 (beta at time of writing). WeMod table is out of date, so only a few "cheats" work, but that is not a Proton issue. Overall gameplay was flawless, no stuttering, hitches or other annoyances.

Save files are in the Prefix folder you set to in Heroic Launcher.
Perfectly playable game, a few minor issues related to remote play but nothing too frustrating.
Needed the friend to be online before launching the game and remote play. My friend needed to be player 1 in order for both of us to play.

Used WINEARCH=win32 environment variable to create a 32-bit wine prefix. Then used winetricks to install xna40 (which I think also installs dotnet40 and xact, or else install these too). Then used winecfg to add as library override xactengine3_6 as (native, builtin).
Fixed with PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60
Epic games version via Heroic launcher.

Minor screen tearing
Salt & Sanctuary is running great Natively, with no issues other than some minor, ocassional screen tearing. Asynchronous online play (e.g. message bottles, tombstones, etc.) is working well. I haven't tried invading anyone else's world (PVP) though.

General Steam Remote play issues not properly streaming the game. The only bad thing is needing a specific in-game item to play with a friend.
The native version for Linux is bugged and disables keyboard functionality. Had to use SSH or reboot computer to close the game. Proton works perfectly fine.
