I have forced Proton Experimental for all games, but later also tried this game with 8.0-5 and it works just as well.

Gamepad was acting odd at first (Movement stuttering, double input), but it was a Steam Input with PS5 Controller issue, not with the game or Proton/Linux. I just had to turn it off.
Works perfectly out of the box. No issues found except Steam Input messing up my PS5 controller.
