Install Ubisoft Connect (app)

You need protontricks and just install Ubisoft Connect (app) within the same proton (as in wine) prefix. After that the game is happy that it can communicate with its French overlords and you are in for tons and tons of old school Anno fun!

There is an audio bug, that repeats the voice lines ingame many many times... Then again, I had similar problems on Windows

to register the game with ubisoft you have to stop and start the game including ubisoft connect via Steam multiple times.
the Anno 1503 game started by Steam directly only shows blackscreen. You have to kill the Anno 1503 started by Steam and wait for ubisoft connect to start the game.
