Anticheat prohibits Linux
When I launched the game, I got an error message saying "Wine, Proton and Steam Deck are not supported", beyond that the game didn't launch.

Intentionally broken - Immediately on launch it detects that it is running within proton and shows, refusing to launch proper.
Alert says "Wine, Proton, and Steam Deck are not supported by this application!"
D.O.A - Anti-cheat does not support Linux.
Attempting to preload the game will present a message that Wine, Proton and Steam Deck are not supported. This is likely due to Javelin, EA's in-house kernel level anti-cheat software.
Also note that Javelin requires secure boot, setting high IT expertise requirements to all linux users to enable this 'feature' on their operating system. This includes ALL steam deck users; you don't have secure boot enabled by default!
Preloading and beta testing Battlefield 6 can be done FOR FREE until the end of beta on august 17.

It's safe to assume that the game will not run on proton, at least not right out of the box/for a while
It's also worth noting that this is pre-launch, open beta and that this may change in the future

The chances of EA removing kernel level anticheat are slim to say the least. Don't preorder unless you plan on dual-booting a windows OS.

"Wine, Proton, and Steam Deck are not supported by this application!" Don't bother on linux yet. Unless there is a workaround I'm not aware of yet. Keep in mind the game releases in 2 months lol.
The game actually checks for Wine, proton, Linux. I got this error: "Wine, Proton, and Steam Deck are not supported by this appluication"
BORKED by the publisher because they don't wanna hire a dev for a day to put in like 5 lines of code into the anticheat implementation. Yes it's that easy, google it!
Javelin anti-cheat explicitly does not run
