Annoying hiccup with account creation
Creating a Yostar account from within the game doesn't work. I had to visit their website, create an account, and link it to my steam account for it to let me past the login page

make a yostar account and bind it to the game on their website, login using that account. if you don't do this, the game will be a white screen when you try to login

Doesn't work. White screen after login.
No amount of tinkering seems to work after the new update.

As previously stated if your account is not already connected to yostar, you will need to do so either via windows or mobile. Other than that, works well!

Failed to obtain [Update Content]
Game launches fine. Then prompts to download additional resources (required content, and additional optional content). This download seems to complete, until throwing an error [1014], suggesting a check of the network configuration. Upon restarting, it will try to download again and then fail.
The game works fine on my browser, the steam version works on a separate Windows PC and there have been no updates since, I have reinstalled, cleared cache, tried both 'required' and 'all' download options, tried different proton versions, tried on different days (in case it was some kind of problem on their end).

To fix the white screen on load, you need to transfer your account to an yostar account ( https://mahjongsoul.yo-star.com/news/105 ), this should fix the loading problem (at least did it for me)

Broken if you don't know how to get it working
Due to Yostar account linking being forced by the last update, the game window will be fully white until you link the account on any other device, or in the web browser - once you do that the game will start as usual

White screen after logging in with the latest update.
Used to work great before but this update broke it.
White screen after logging in. It was not like this before for me.

toggling between fullscreen and windowed (alt+enter) does not retain windowed mode size.
I previously created my account on a Windows machine and remember that there was some weirdness with that. Unsure if it plays out the same on Linux but I'm pretty sure it'll be fine.

Works OOTB
Just werks

Works if you log in with an email
Logging in with a Google account doesn't work, log in with email, or if you already have an account and you're logged into it on your phone, link it to an email first and then use that email to log in
No problems whatsoever

Game runs OOTB
Game runs fine

Freezes either while loading or in main menu. Have tried experimental, GE and others but no luck so far.
Looking for solutions.

Launched with the current stable Proton and played immediately, no bugs or problems of any kind.
Runs OOTB

I wasn't able to log in with my Google account, due to that using a built-in browser which doesn't work on my computer. I was able to log in to my yostar account by email.
Other than that, game seems to work exactly as it does on Windows.
Works fine

gamemoderun taskset -ca 0-7,16-23 %command%
Videos don't work on default Proton. There aren't many. Not required to play the game.
Launch options are specific to my CPU.
Everything works out of the box.

Imported HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CatfoodStudio\MahjongSoul-Steam registery from pc to steam deck using protontricks. Also copied AppData folder and game folder just in case but the regedit part did the trick.
Google login doesn't work, tried installing a browser with protontricks but that didn't help.
There is a hosts file in appdata which contains a link, don't try opening the link as it gives you an IP ban.

(STEAM VERSION) Works well out of the box using non-gmail email login
This report is specifically for the STEAM VERSION of the game, which differs from the standalone "Windows Version" you can download from the website.
No special tinkering required. Game just boots and plays fine. My account is associated with an email address (not using the Gmail or Google login processes). Other login methods, including just being associated w/ your steam account, I did not test.
Can't login with Google account. The login page is always loading. Change Proton version doesn't work
Works perfectly. No tinkering needed.

Requires 3rd party email to sign in. Provides option for Steam signup, which I have not tested.
ugly fonts
Had to change different Proton-GE versions, ended up downloading the latest one and it just worked.
Works perfectly, runs better than the browser version.

You can't sign in with Google in game mode.
