Crashes when joining any public server
Seems that battleye is still not supported of fixed by Bohemia so unfortunately it's no possible to play.

Unplayable. It's doesn't makes sense you need to disable battleye to play on non-battleye servers. Bohemia could fix this issue.
Gets to menus, then gets kicked from servers for battleye no responding
Given the news about battle support for Arma 3 and Dayz in proton, I wanted to try the OG. Unfortunately even getting past not being able to run Arma 2 by copying the addons folder over to OA folder still servers kick you for battleye not responding.
This was a rather complex process. First, I installed and ran Arma 2 and Arma 2:operation arrowhead (Make sure to enable all add-ons in operation arrowhead). After both games are installed and have been ran, copy the add-ons folder from Arma 2 into Arma 2:Operation Arrowhead in your steam root. Once you do that, you can go into the game and enable all add-ons, and the game should work
BattlEye client was started successfully, but when I had connected to the public server with BE required it kicked me with message "BattlEye Client is not responding"
The servers which required BattlEye Client kick you cause BE Client is not responding. But you could join the servers which have not BattlEye requirements if you run Arma 2: OA, turn on the DayZ Mod extension in it and search the servers with the filters BattleEye: No and Search: DayZ

There's only one other report on this game as I am writing this, and the problem they had is that they did not have Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead installed. Considering this mod is a mod of that game, you need the base game for this to work.
However, I installed Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead, and resulted in a problem with BattleEye. BattleEye needs to be installed for this game to run, and after clicking install the game crashes.
Fails to start with "(missing executable)" of "steamapps/common/Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead/ArmA2OA_BE.exe"
