While researching online, I came across a potential fix for the performance drop that occurs after playing for a while. It didn’t solve the issue for me, but it might work for someone else. Over time the game FPS and latency degrade until the game is unplayable.
The game's launcher does not work with wayland as of this report. It will not render.
All features of the game worked as expected. There were no issues installing, launching, configuring, or playing the game at any point.

If you intend on playing the DZSA Launcher (mod) then you may run into some trouble. I got the launcher to work fine when adding it to Steam, and the launcher seems to work best with Proton Experimental, however, I was unable to launch the game by connecting to a server. The mods list downloads as intended via Steam Workshop, but I was unable to get the game to launch from the DZSA Launcher (mod).
It worked perfectly fine out of the box with Bazzite. I didn't have much luck with Mint though even after switching to experimental.
No issues at all. I have this big lag a few seconds after joining a server but I don't know if this is Linux specific or maybe even a me problem. On Mint I got kicked a few seconds after joining a server also with a big lag, maybe this has something to do with BattleEye. It works perfectly after that though.
The launcher, when not minimized, would leave a funny thin black box on the screen while playing. If you minimize it however it goes away.

Freezing after joining a server
After joining a server the game freezed after 10 to 30 seconds. I dont know WHY but Discord seems to be an issue. When i fully close it (also task) the game unfreezes every time. When discord is open i get kicked from battleye (client not responding). If you encounter the same issue, try to close discord and put -nolauncher into launchsettings to safe some ressources. Since then i can play dayZ for hours without issues.
Works pretty well no memory leak from 2GB to 3GB constantly
Seems to work very well. People were saying that there is a memory leak but I am running it by default no launch options and it works.
Game runs fine until it crashes.
Some kind of major memory issue where after a bit of time playing your game will run at 4fps and force a pc restart basically unplayable unless you want to deal w this 4x times a day.

Still experiencing freezing after loading into a server, official or community, after about 20-30 seconds. The game remains frozen for about a minute before it disconnects you and flags, "You were kicked off the game. BattlEye (client not responding)." Occasionally it catches up without disconnecting and I am able to play without issue for the rest of the session.
The root cause of the issue could be related to a similar symptom experienced on War Thunder, with freezing beginning at the start of matches. According to a thread on Gaijin's forums (https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/Gzuh9IYe7yLp), they've identified an issue with Battleye and are working a fix. Perhaps it will pay dividends in Chernarus as well.
Make sure to minimize the launcher otherwise an outline of it will be shown in front of the game window or any other window.

Recent bugs are now fixed and the game is suddenly very playable again. Visually, it's great, but the framerate should be better than atm.
Frame rates are not as good as they should be and worse than playing Dayz on Windows at the moment. They have been better on Linux previously, but not now. The game is playable, but the frame rates begins to slow and get a little choppy drop after a few hours of playing.
I haven't tested this, but I think the game needs to be run with Proton Experimental for best results.

Game currently crashes when alt-tabbing and locks-up the system. A hard boot using the power button is the only recovery option.
Some kind of GPU memory issue, where the framerate of the game may start to decrease when playing, ultimately reaching the point where it becomes unplayable and a restart is required.
Game will not load from the client menu. Instead, it locks-up, requiring a system hard reset. Game will load from the server menu, but the server browser does not move the to background, obscuring the gameplay. To fix this, one has to alt-tab, but this presently causes the game and entire system to completely lockup, requiring a hard reset. In other words, the game is unplayable at present.

The game broke after update to 1.28. Switching to different versions or editions of Proton does not work. Neither does any other fix that has worked in the 4 years I've been playing this game. Issue reported to the developer, but the developer won't support Linux. I'm very disappointed about this..
I tried running the game on Steam Deck and it worked fine, so don't know what kind of magic sauce the Deck is using...
The game starts up fine, but after around 20 seconds of playing the game freezes permanently. It's currently completely unplayable.
Same issue occured regardless of whether Battleye was enabled or disabled in the launcher.
DayZ 1.28 seems to ship an updated BattlEye client performing calls to system libraries (bcrypt.dll) causing full freezes, game is broken.

The game used to run fine. But as of this new update I can't play on a single server modded or unmodded, official or unofficial.
Froze, then crashed after loading into an Official or unOfficial Server.
Wait for the next update for a fix.
Works flawlessly, modding works, was able to connect and player servers such as Karmakrew Chernarus, Cold as F**K, official servers, etc
Game works amazingly, gained an FPS boost on DayZ of around 40 FPS with the same hardware on Arch, while Windows suffered.

Note : If the game is just quitting on launch, MAKE SURE YOU'RE RUNNING DayZ CLIENT, not the other one, on a simple gameplay, the game seemed to be completely fine for me.

The game runs significantly worse than on Windows and there is a VRAM memory leak that will make you restart the game during your sessions.
VRAM leak that leads to 0-2 fps in-game
DayZ is really not a great experience on Linux. Not only the FPS are significantly worse compared to Windows, the VRAM leak will lead to some very frustrating moments where you are forced to restart the game while in action, while driving a car, etc. How often you have to restart will depend on the amount of VRAM you have and what your are doing in-game. I have 10 GB VRAM and while driving a car around Chernarus, I had to restart every ~30 minutes or so, which is unnaceptable.

Pretty good experience, runs like on Windows. There is a memory leak though and 5 hours of playing filled up my 24GB VRAM buffer. Restart.
Sometimes the trays would be visible. Had to switch fullscreen on and off a few times to fix.

Slightly jagged frames, game was running high fps but seemed stuttery. Fixed with Proton 9.0-4 & launch parameters.
If experiencing jagged frames, simply change proton version to 9.0-4 and add launch parameters. This should fix that specific issue..

If you don't minimise the launcher after launching the game a border will be visible.
Settings set in launcher seem to not save unless you set them, close the launcher, and then start it again.
Occasionally when leaving or rejoining a server the game will crash.
Launcher freezes if the game crashes, have to fully restart through steam.
There used to be some problems with loading mods from workshop, but these seem to have been solved.

The only minor issue is - for some reason - I have to close the server browser after joining a server, because the outline of the window itself "ghosts" onto the game somehow. This is a very small issue, doesn't really bother me, the server browser doesn't need to stay open anyway once you're in a server.

VRAM Leak
A VRAM leak. I do not know why and how this happens, as well as what I can do about it, but it happens. DayZ uses all 8 Gb of RAM and 8 Gb and does not clean it in any way. This causes a sharp drop in FPS when it completely clogs up the VRAM. He scores VRAM in 1 hour of play, approximately. In general, you can play, I like it, but the VRAM leak is annoying and prevents you from fully enjoying the game.

Not working
The DayZ launcher is working, but when i press "play" in the launcher or try to join a server, the game doesn't lauch. I tried many launch options seen here and many Proton versions.
Performs much better than on Windows (AMD GPUs), mods are super easy to set up with DZGUI

Mouse 3 doesn't work for some reason
The GPU is properly utilized here, whereas in Windows the moment you enter a sizeable city the usage takes a noise dive. Super easy to set up everything, only issue I've had is the game doesn't recognize the M3 input of my mouse, I've tried in other DXVK games and it works there.

Starts and runs great, Only played on official servers so can't comment on mods.
Launcher leaves a box outline in game, so I turned the launcher off.
In short, as the game runs, probably loading mesh and similar data, occupies a lot of VRAM, never completely freeing it. I arrive in having the full VRAM occupied and that decreased the fps, probably halving it, leading to input lag and such. From the sensors, I see 6056/6144MB of VRAM used continuously.
VRAM memory leak bug impacts the fps after some minutes of playing.
There is an initial setup tinkering, afterwards runs flawlessly. Must set launch options, set specific watched mod folder in the launcher.

This game will run fine with pretty much any modern proton enabled, as long as you don't want to play with mods.

I should be able to run it on ultra settings with no issues but I only get 60FPS on medium settings at 4k.
In order to get the launcher to properly identify mods, I adjusted the proton prefix to mimic a windows install. I did this by updating the registry, adding alll folders (documents, saved games, photos, etc.), and installing needed dependencies. Chat GPT helped me do this and now the game runs normally with mods through the launcher. No script required.
