only in cutscenes
freezes in cutscenes but not critical

Installed no launcher mod (launcher always crash)
Launcher is broken
Mod no launcher required
Works fine, no tinkering required
Rockstar Launcher works out of the box with GE 9.11, remembers the login just fine. Resolution has to be changed from 800x600, runs 90 fps.

Rockstar launcher works, as in I was able to login. But the game just flashes black screen and dies.

works fine
game runs smoothly without any problems.

TDP 6 GPU Clock 800
Rockstar Games Launcher crashed the first time I opened the game and it required me to re-login each time I opened the game. Mildly annoying.
Audio crackling upon waking up from sleep mode.
The game started at a higher resolution then the Steam Deck, had to fix it in-game.

Had to glitch into the Rockstar Launcher setup screen. You might be able to get there easier in desktop mode. once it's setup, it works fine everytime
Getting 90FPS and about 4 and a half hours of battery life on Steam Deck OLED on max settings

The game runs perfect under proton, i did not have any trouble playing this game with Dualsense controller and gyro.

The game only works with the option: __NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command% both on the default Proton Steam and Pro
__NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%
The game only works with the option:
__NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%
both on the default Proton Steam and Proton GE.
Sometimes the game crashes to the desktop.
Sometimes the game crashes to the desktop.

Runs perfectly outta the box.
Slight crackling here and there but it's WAY less than other games i've played and thats not an exaggeration
I couldn't load my save from the time I used to use Windows. But I was only 3 hours into the game including cutscenes so I just skipped all of them and progressed the story.
I was surpised that the Rockstar Launcher worked on Linux with the Social Club overlay and all that. I'm not sure if it's a native port of the Rockstar Launcher or if it's running via Proton but I ain't complaining because it works.

Excellent performance. No issues
Starts up and runs perfectly. Ran on big picture mode 3440x1440p ultrawide resolution no problem. Dualsense controller working fine. Using Wayland

Borked since Social Club launcher update, need to manually change to proton 8.0 or experimental as 7.0 is set by steam.

The game went smoothly. I played it for the first time and played straight through it. Was using Proton 8.0-2
Playable
There are a few bugs but it's playable
I changed the refresh rate of the screen to 40hz and allowed tearing

Changed wine config Contacted rockstar support for the cd key Installed rockstar launcher and social club with protontricks
Some crackling got worse the more I play.
Blood was black and white. some parts of the menu were flickering.
20 to 25 fps no matter what even on lowest settings and a res of 800x600. Froze multiple times during loading and entering new areas.
Rockstar Launcher
No Cloud Saves
No issues at all. Finished the game in a couple of days with zero problems.
Can't play without installing R*'s awful launcher.
The game runs pretty well through Proton, but I wouldn't recommend installing it because you need to use R*'s awful launcher in order to play the game. I would personally recommend playing it through Xbox One/Series backwards compatibility.

Remedy launcher should be installed. Just use the touchscreen.
Just set in-game graphic settings the right resolution and aspect ratio.
Good, with few stutters
Worked at 60Hz but changed to 40hz refresh rate (without any issue)
Just a detail: does not use full available space on the screen (maybe because of native game resolution ratio ?)
When I initially installed this on my Steam Deck it was marked as (?) Unknown if it works on Steam Deck.
It plays great for me. Controls, graphics, 60fps, all great.
Now for some reason (as I type this) the game is marked as Unsupported!
I've no idea why, I just loaded it again to make sure, loaded my last save game, and played for a bit. Still runs and looks great, and supports Steam Deck controls as standard.
Seems as good as "verified" from my perspective!
Love the Max Payne games.
Also love being able to go back to these older games, on my Steam Deck.
Proton works so much better than I'd even hoped.
Thanks.
I ran the game with the new 40hz mode
DirectX 11 was very laggy, with DirectX 10.1 it is buttery smooth
Works fine with max settings, FHD 60fps
The only thing that was annoying to install was Rockstar Games Social Club. You need this to run the game unfortunately. Once you get the game up it won't fuss, and it runs better than on windows. NOTE: I am using Proton-6.19-GE-2 !!
