Audios for some FMVs are missing, notably the intro FMV and the Ch6 ending FMV. Possibly others past Ch6, but I'm not that far yet.
Forced to use Steam Input. Launching the game without Steam Input results in it not recognizing my controller (Dualsense Edge)

Steps: Using ProtonUp-QT, download GE-Proton7-50
Click Properties, under compatibility, force game to use GE-Proton7-50
This will allow FMV to play but NO AUDIO
- To fix audio, go under shortcut in the same window. Paste this launch option=
GST_PLUGIN_FEATURE_RANK=protonaudioconverterbin:NONE %command%
This will enable English audio to play in FMV
If your audio on the opening screen is still stuck in Japanese, you need to delete the SYSTEM config save file to reset it back to default audio language which is English.

I tried the same thing on Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 + NINJA GAIDEN 3: Razor's Edge.
The opening FMV+audio plays but I cannot guarantee English audio works as I have not progressed far enough to confirm it myself. Leave a comment if it works for you :)

Pre-rendered cutscenes don't have audio for English voices. Japanese audio works fine.
Finished story mode. Game crashed on me once. Otherwise no real issues with performance. Works pretty good out of the box. Battery life is pretty average.
Only issue is audio for prerendered cutscenes doesn't work for English audio. Prerendered cutscenes for Japanese audio works fine. Looked online and tried some recommendations like Experimental Proton, Proton GE, or using launch options, but couldn't get it to work.
Slice if you've heard this one before: prerendered cutscenes (which in this game are a minority, mind) don't play or are skipped. On Proton Experimental, they play, but no sound on English dub (there are subtitles, mind). For me this only worked after a +1GB update. Either choose the Japanese dub, or live with silent, subtitled prerendered cutscenes. This isn't so bad as it sounds, though, because only certain 'mood'-pieces are prerendered. Most of the cutscenes are real-time. Apart from that, it's smooth slicing!

Barebones port, but it works absolutely flawlessly on Steam Deck. This is a slightly worse game than NG Black, but still one of the best.
Pre-rendered videos don't play using proton 7.0, using proton experimental the videos play, but without audio, unless japanese audio is selected.

If your game crashes on the Deck try Windowed, lower the resolution and turn off vsync that worked for me

I am unsure whether there were any videos that were silently skipped, but the game runs well.
Proton 6.10-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
As others report in Steam reviews, it starts out windowed. I just double-clicked the title bar and it went full screen. Initially it was not clear how to exit and was able to alt-tab then use "xkill" to select and kill the window. Later I found out how to gracefully return to the menu and exit the game.
My XBOX 360 wireless controller was not recognized by default. As with some other games played with Proton, I had to select "Disable Steam Input" on the Steam configuration controller settings before it was detected in game.
Given my system specs I was surprised how reasonable the 1st level played . I'm running a somewhat low-end system and 1080p resolution.
I tried using "PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 DXVK_HUD=1" but nothing shows up to benchmark.
I haven't played long enough to determine if graphics will break down further during more complex scenes or boss fights yet.

I had an issue with my XBONE and XBox 360 controllers not working. Initially
I had to enable the XBox Controller support in my Steam client settings and enable both the Steam overlay and Steam Big Picture controller option for the overlay.
Once that was done the game was fine.
Game does not respond to game controller
Using an XBONE controller via the dongle and Xow the game requests a controller be plugged in. Will not respond.
Plugging in a wired x360 controller the game does not recognise that either unless Xbox configuration is enabled in the Steam controller settings. Once that's done it will get to the splash screen. The game displays "Press Start" however it does not respond to the controller
The game is unplayable. Does not respond to the keyboard.
Although you have to keep trying until the screen resolution isn't messed up or the screen is simply all black, the game works fine.

Played through the first 4 chapters without a single issue in windowed 1080p. Haven't tried 4K yet.
Steam Overlay enabled, and my Xbox One controller works perfectly out of the gate.
Game runs extremely smooth so far and doesn't even cause my fans to spin up.

Game installs fine, and you see the flower kunai and a Koei Tecmo screen -- but then it just goes black.
Proton 6 GE-1, Proton 5.13, and Experimental all give the same results
It runs just fine. Or... well, the same. Bad port, performance good, perfectly playable, so long as you use latest GE.

After Koei Tecmo Logo, i see only a black screen.
Also tryed with GloriousEggroll 6.10, same result. (I use i3 as Window-Manager.)
