The Tutorials, which are presumably video-based, did not play. The text of the tutorials was sufficient, and unnecessary if you already play chess. The initial levels will let you understand how to play the game with a little trial and error, you may just not be able to recognize the enemy pieces for what they are until you see how they attack.
