It sits at a black screen after the Unity logo for a minute or so before it does anything. But other than that it runs pretty good.

There is no native version for this game even though steam says there is a native version. If you look at the system requirements the OS says "Linux 64bit + proton." So if you're confused to why it forced proton that is why.
